I polished the engagement surfaces on the OEM trigger and eliminated the gritty feel, but it still had a long, creepy pull and a long reset. Being way to cheap to drop $200+ on a modular competition trigger I decided to try the Rock River Arms 2-stage AR trigger (AR0093NMK). Installation took about 5 mins and new pins are included. Nice smooth and light (maybe 1lb) 1st stage and a crisp (and short) 2nd stage release that feels like 4-5lbs. Resets right at the start of the 2nd stage. Perfect!
Took it out to the range and it worked flawlessly ...until I emptied the first mag. Dang, no bolt lockback. Several more trials with the same result. Everything was well lubed, using HV CCI loads. I had noticed after installation that the RRA has a stiffer hammer spring and lower mass hammer than the OEM setup. I examined a few spent casings and the sure enough the FP indentations were so deep the brass was nearly fractured. Okay, too much energy is being dumped into the FP and brass. Just need to recover it.
Back home I eye the old trigger parts, including the blue hammer spring, sitting on the bench. Hmmm I wonder... Yup, the OEM spring fits like a glove. Hopefully it's not too light for the new hammer.
Back to the range and ...YES!, bolt now cycles fully and lockup works again. No light strikes either. SWEET!

Hmm I have my RRA Trigger in the bag waiting for my 15-22 to get out of jail. Which spring did u have to change back.

This is an excellent, reliable trigger system. I have it in at least two of my 5.56mm AR15s and what appears to be an identical ArmaLite two stage in another.

Depends on if you want to put another $100 into your .22LR plinker. The JP springs work well in mine. Not as nice but not $100 either.

The hammer spring, though I'd suggest trying it as is first. If the bolt cycles fully and it's not punching holes in the cartridges, you're good to go.

Yeah deffinetly. I will just bring my old trigger system with me to the range just in case :D. Glad to hear everything is working for you again.

Please try bump firing it and me know how that works out. I could justify spending that if it did work, but probably not just for the nicer better feel etc.

I bumped and it didn't fire. Oh, you mean... ;)

No, 2nd stage is too heavy to bump fire on a 15-22. After 200 rds it's settled in at I'd guess about 4lbs. Reset and release are plenty short, but I think the stage 2 pull would have to be more like 1.5-2lbs for true BF.
Double-taps are easy though. :D
