15-22 upper/lower

Is there anywhere you can buy a 15-22 upper or lower just by itself? There's some ideas I have in mind if I could get my hands on another upper or two for a decent deal. I just don't want to have to buy a whole nother gun to "tinker" with.

No. Nobody has them or sells them other than S&W. S&W does not 'sell' individual spare parts for the 15-22, but they will sell/send you a replacement part if you 'break' one of your parts or they if a part fails.

You have to call S&W directly and tell them you messed up your upper.

Since the lower is considered a firearm, you won't have any luck getting one without buying a whole new rifle.

The upper can be had. A forum member here broke his upper and S&W sold him a new one for ~$26.

The new upper was under $30 delivered. CPT is spot on, the "lower" is considered the "Firearm" and they will not sell it to you.

so if I break my upper trying to mod it, they will send me a replacement? do I have to send in my old upper?

I am looking in to building upperrs and 80% lowers out of aluminum. if u think that might be to your liking let m know. Thanks slim

Why? What would be the point of an aluminum 15-22?

The reason why is the upper and lower have give to them and I want to make sure that there is none at all. And as I have the tools and the means to make this I will to add to the rifle for myself. That's all.

Somewhere around last spring, I was about to send my 15-22 in to be refinished, having painted it once already. Hoping to save the Cerakote guy a little work trying to strip the upper, I did call and ask if I could buy a new one. They would not sell me one (wasn't a "not in stock" issue, but rather "this is not our policy" issue). Maybe something has changed since you got yours?
