The only ammo I use in my S&W 15-22 is CCI-SV. I find it the most economical, consistent, and accurate at 25 yards. I frequently read comments that other users have cycling problems with CCI-SV ammo and they need HV ammo. Here is my bolt cleaning method to keep it 100% cycling with no (FTL,FTF,FTE). First image is the dirty bolt face after 75 rounds. I scrub the bolt face with a bronze brush and Clensoil. I focus on the cartridge rim face and edges to get them clean.
There are two metal bolt side guide rails that guide the bolt as it recoils in the poly receiver. There are two points on the bolt (front and rear) on both sides where the side guide rails touch the bolt. These touch points accumulate dirty oil and burned powder and create recoil friction as the bolt recoils and returns to cycle the firing. I do a full field strip of the bolt to remove these guide rails to clean them and the bolt side groves for the rails. Focus cleaning where the guide rails touch the four front and rear spots of the bolt. I reassemble all with a few drops of gun oil on the guide rails and the bolt's top recoil spring and guide rod.

Yes

Soooooo, keeping you BCG clean and lubed seems to do the trick? Who'd a thunk it? :D
Yes..:)
Especially the four touch points of the side rails on the bolt. Take the rails off and see the gunk in the grooves under the rails.

95+ % of my 15-22 rounds are CCI AR Tactical 22. Excellent all - around and very clean. Very likely hasn't been cleaned in over 1,000 rounds or so. Runs great. Will likely clean this week. 25-30 rounds every 3 - 4 weeks avg shooting armadillos and skunks at zero dark thirty. They never end. Big damn ground hog 2 days ago mid-day. Gets very old.

But yeah, that's my basic load due to reliability, consistency, accuracy, clean - running.

Why are you using CCI AR Tactical versus CCI Mini Mag?

I reckon because I like it. Last night I mistakenly grabbed a different magazine when one of my cameras alerted me to an armadillo. The armadillo took a very serious hit. Turns out I have that magazine loaded with CCI Copper-22. It's 21gr, factory rated at 1850 fps. I have seen it chrono at 2300 fps. Kinetic energy matters. lol.

Federal Punch Self Defense 22lr

Check out Federal Punch Self Defense 22lr. Does not have the velocity of CCI but the gel tests penetration was awesome:cool:

I use 100% CCI SV and never have to scrub my bolt because of my lube regimen. Starting with a clean bolt, I use one drop of synthetic lube (Royal Purple Synfilm) on each of the four guides on the bolt and a thin film of the same lube on the bolt face. The lube keeps the fouling soft so it can be wiped off with a paper towel. The smut on the bottom of the bolt is wiped away with some brake cleaner on a paper towel. A brass or plastic scraper is used to clean the cartridge recess in the bolt. This entire cleaning takes ten minutes and my 15-22 runs perfectly.

500 rounds of cci sv later.
