What's good what's hood my righteous peoples?

Basically, title says it all- Anyone running a new Aimpoint Pro on their 15-22? I suppose if you are an AimPRO user on a different rifle you can chime in but I'm real curious to know how people with the 15-22 like the Aimpoint PRO.

As I've said many many times, I am a user of two Aimpoint Micro's ... I bought them for my 5.56 AR and my 15-22. Then I realized I needed additional mounts and I had ran out of dough.. I scrounged up one $100 bill for a mount and that setup went on my 5.56 AR... then the second Micro sat idle waiting for a mount for the 15-22. After about 30 seconds i said, FORGET that, let's try it out on my M930SPX! It's made for uses like that, it's got an integral mount, the M930SPX comes with the factory rail.... Hey now!

it was so absolutely awesome I could simply not take it off!!!! Now I can't decide who has more claim, the M930SPX or the 15-22.

So I am ENTERTAINING the idea of just giving the Micro completely to the SPX and maybe getting the Aimpoint PRO for the 15-22. The upside is that then everyone has their own Aimpoint and all are wearing the right size etc. But of course the Aimpoint PRO is at least $400 extra dollars, and the M930SPX has some of if not the best shotgun sights (LPA Ghost Ring and front fiber optic post) you can buy, so theoretically I can just use the stock GRS on the SPX and put the Aimpoint Micro on the 15-22 where it belongs...

Anyway, if you do the AimPRO on the 15-22 please pass on your details

I ordered one for my 5.56 AR-15 and thought maybe sometime in the future I'll order the Aimpoint Comp ML3 or M4S and put the Aimpoint PRO on my 15-22. I hear nothing but good things about the PRO.

I'm running full sized Aimpoint M68 CCO sights (first generation and latest) on two of my carbines and an Aimpoint clone on the M&P15-22.

On the M&P15-22 the clone works just fine.

Yeah I don't do clones but thanks tho.

I was probably going to go with the Cheapest Aimpoint and cantilever mount for my 15-22, i THINK a Aimpoint C3 ($399.99 on Primary Arms and ** $90 BUCKS ** for a decent cantilever mount) ...

But then, the Aimpoint Pro came out, it's a newer, better red dot WITH an integrated mount, $400 - unbeatable!

one thing I've been intrigued with, MidWayUSA has a sale on a Trijicon RMR with a little rail mount, but its like closer to $600 and, i wounder if it too small for a primary sight?

It looks like a setup Aimpoint should have released years ago for the sporting shooter. Great deal. Likely not a C3 since it is NV compatible,so its an upgrade.

Ummmm, $600 sight on a $400 rifle shooting 2MOA ammo... :)

Yep, that's why I "do clones" on .22LR clones.

That's fine, no offense, but you're trying to 'make fun' of me for having a superior optic? I wasted my money when I was a n00b, I learned my lesson, and now I will only use high quality.

Notice almost all hunters will say, they'd rather have a $300-$500 rifle and a $1000 scope than a $1,000 rifle a "clone" scope (read clone as: junky) ... Optic is probably the most important thing you spend the money on.

And again, my 15-22 is probably a little more serious to me, I have about $500 of upgrades on that $400 rifle, PLUS the $5-$600 Aimpoint Micro and $100 mount. As a result, it's probably my favorite weapon.

But hey, go on with your clones, laugh all the way to the bank and then back to the store to buy another one.

So are you here asking for help, or just trying to sell Aimpoints? Putting $1200 worth of junk on a 15-22 makes about as much sense as that ninja sword someone mounted on their gun. Foolishness. And yes you can take that to the bank.

All hunters on TV?????

Everyone in my family hunts. None of us use $1,000 optics and we are very successful. I hunt with a $700 rifle and use a $150 optic. It does everything I need it to.

Around here, the people with all the snazzy gear and clothing eat tag soup every year. I think they're too focused on not getting stuff dirty.

I have both an M&P 15 and a 15-22. I wanted to set up both rifles as identically as possible, to maximize the training value when using my 15-22, so I have two Aimpoint P.R.O optics - one on each rifle.

I supposed I could have gone with a cheaper alternative but again, I wanted to make the experience as similar as possible to the M&P 15 when I use my 15-22.

You can buy a T1, with mount, shipped for $528 at Botach.

I was waiting for a better deal and bit on the T1.
I already have an H1 and M2.
I like the Micro's better.

Botach can be problematic but this order last week went smooth.

No, I'm trying to make fun of you spending a lot of money when you didn't need to.

Within the context of plinking out to 50 yards with bulk .22LR ammunition your optic is not superior, merely more expensive. If we were discussing your sight on a 5.56mm carbine I'd be writing "Nice sight." But it's on a plastic plinker/trainer, not a duty carbine.

Both my $79 aimpoint clone and my $875 (MSRP) Aimpoint CompM4S achieve the exact same results on my $400 M&P15-22. Neither is superior in performance. One certainly costs a lot more.

Would I put my $79 aimpoint clone on my duty rifle? Not a chance. But that is different context.

It is a nice sight, by the way. Save it for your duty rifle.

Whats wrong with putting an expensive, quality optic on a 15-22 if you can afford it and will enjoy it...
I see the rifle as a fun gun, and though i cant run an aimpoint, if it makes the gun more fun to shoot, why the hell not

There is nothing "wrong" with putting an expensive, quality optic on an M&P15-22 (or an Airsoft).

Deluding yourself that there is any benefit in it is something else.

If fun is the rationale, then I "feel" it would be fun to glue $100 bills all over my 15-22. (Actually it might work pretty well instead of painting it camo....)

Lots of bling, wouldn't help any but I would feel good and enjoy it....

B-b-but, the M&P 15-22 is the ultimate Navy Delta Force Green Beret Marine Core Death Rifle(tm) for home defense, killing Al Qaeda, and hunting Bigfoot! It can kill anything just by taking it out of the case! Don't let your kids look at it, or they'll turn to stone, it's so badass.
:D

But seriously ScrapmasterFlex, Chuck makes a good point. As we've discussed on these forums in painful detail, the 15-22 is a fun range-toy and small game rifle. There's nothing wrong with putting a decent optic on it, relative to its capabilities. There's nothing wrong with putting an Aimpoint PRO (or an ACOG) on it if you can afford it and that's what you want, but you're not going to see any performance improvements over a nice mid-range red dot.
Personally, I'm buying a PRO in a couple weeks. For my 5.56 BCM, and then I'm moving my Bushnell Trophy MP onto my 15-22.

Bottom line, it's your rifle, do whatever you want with it. As long as you understand and accept the capabilities of the weapon versus the optic you want to use, I think you'll see where Chuck is coming from.

I read a little about the Aimpoint Pro. Folks have talked about them not having the clear glass of other Aimpoint products-- having a blue/green tint similar to dime store optics. I found a pic of one.

I'm good- I enjoy having not only the best functionality in the Aimpoint Micro but also the appearance- It works amazing, its entirely small and light, and it looks great.... My S&W M&P 15-22 has received more compliments and requests for "Can you write down how to made that thing so I can get one???" than believable almost. The guys at the RANGE telll people, "You should see what one of our shooters comes in here with." and the guys at the gun shop tell people buying 15-22's, hey you could make yours like this guy's - -That makes me feel good. And it makes the rifle feel REAL good to shoot.

I have matching Micro's on my 15-22 and Bushmaster 5.56 , but I love using a Micro on my M930SPX. I was considering going with a Pro on my 15-22 so I can keep a Micro on my M930SPX... Now I don't know what I'll do. Figure something out. But it's damn hard to NOT use them on any/everything- once you try them you recognize their worth.

good lookin rifle :) I like the OD angle grip and mbus. Very similar to what I was going to do with mine, minus the crayon stuff and using shorty mags and cheapie red-dot instead of Aimpoint.
