CCI Velocitor
Suppose to be the hottest hardest hitting round on the market. Expensive little suckers too.
Has anybody shot a them successfully through their 15-22?
Was thinking of loading up a mag and linking it to another mag of standard stuff with one of those "clip" things. That way when out on the farm and I see a armadillo, coyote, pig or something like a feral cat I can be selective on how I tight'em up.

Haven't shot Velocitor rounds - I did pick up a new 15-22 this weekend and put about 400 rounds of Aguila Interceptor with nearly identical specs to the Velocitor (~1460 fps/40grain).
Boy did it shoot fantastic - only 2 light primer strikes in 400rds and both worked when I put them back through a mag. Very accurate, very zippy, no problems (a bit dirty like typical 22lr, not as dirty as most).
Price: way too expensive - I'm going to plink with something else!

I thought CCI Stinger was the heavy hitter of .22LR? That's the one that the case is supposed to be just a bit longer than standard to hold more powder.

I shot about 30 of those and they have a bigger kick (as far as you can have one with the 22) and they case is a tad longer, about 1mm

I have used 300 rounds of the Velociter with no FTF or FTE problems in my 15-22. I really couldn't find much difference between the Velociter and the Stingers. Not sure either are worth the extra money unless you plan on using them on animals larger than gophers/ground squirrels/prairie dogs. Rockchucks, Woodchucks and maybe well placed close ( 25 yds or less ) shots on coyotes may be better applications for the Velociter ammo.

Velocitors are one of the most accurate loads out of my 1522. Both my 10-22s like them too. They are a bit pricey, but I have been using them for tactical varmint control, mainly raccoons and a few possums and feral cats.

They work great in my gun.
Here is a link to some ammo testing I did last summer.
Ammo Testing with Chronograph Data
CCI Velocitor's were one of the best.

Nice data work-up and interesting results. Would not have expected the Velocitors to be that accurate. My experience the high speed ammo is less accurate than the sub-sonic. Again, nice work.

Saw a ballistics graph at ballistics by the inch. Velociter and Stinger were above the others neck and neck. I think Velociter had the overall edge. Stinger seemed to have it at the muzzle but the 40gr Velociter went the distance. Some people say Mini mag solids are the way to go in a 22a-1. Stinger does not cycle as well due to the case. Shorter barrel length does not get the full benifit of the Velociter loading like a longer barrel rifles. Cost was a factor also.

Stingers have always cycled flawlessly in my 15-22. Velocitors are nice, but as far as the best overall LR load, they are in second place behind Aguila Interceptors. 35 fps faster on paper, but typically closer to 100 fps in real world testing, and you have a choice between a hollow point and flat nose. I've seen tests where Velocitors barely break 1300 fps from 16-inch barrels, but Interceptors were doing 1400+ from the same length.

Great I bought a brick of the interceptors when I first got my 22a-1. Have picked up some supermax also. A post on the supermax was saying that they do not reach the velocity advertised on the box. Have you had any problems with interceptors being dirty ammo compared to a stinger?

I haven't had any problems with Interceptors being dirty, but I don't really plink with them. I save them to shoot the bigger things and for random penetration testing.
As far as the Supermax goes, in what I've seen they need a 20+ inch barrel to get to 1700fps. Same goes for the Stingers, though. And in my own testing, the Supermaxes had identical penetration to the Stingers but more damage (bigger exit hole with HP), so they ARE more powerful.

The Stinger is good out to about 100 yards or a little less but its lighter bullet loses velocity faster than the Velocitor round. The heavier 40g Velocitor bullet retains more enegy past that point and hits harder from that point and beyond. Just depends on what you want to do.

I managed to pick up 100 rounds of Stingers (1640 fps) and they are the only rounds my Sig 226/22 conversion will eat without any problems. Sig recommends CCI high velocity ammo at least 1280 fps Worst ammo I have ever used were Winchester 22's The minimags work pretty good too
I ordered 500 rounds of Stingers from Lohman arms they are backordered 18 weeks
