I know I would

What do you guys & gals think if they ever offer it in .22 magnum?

This was a topic of conversation a while back. At first I wanted one, now I don't. 22 mag really just doesn't do it for me anymore.

No way.
The .22m has a long and troubled history of working in semi auto weapons.
Too long and thin to feed/extract reliably, just look at all the failed concepts, even the Ruger 10-22 magnum was problematic.
Now a 17HMR might be interesting...

I assume most 15-22 owners would not buy a 22mag version because it would defeat the reasons they bought the 15-22. cheap training rifle, cure the "bug", cheap plinker, etc...

I either shoot "cheap" or "big". The 22WM would be neither, I'm afraid. I liked it when I had a Ruger single action with both 22 and 22mag cylinders, but not for a single gun. For me, at least.

Yea, was on my mind but as stated, to many issues with the case in a semi-auto. I just like the bullet, I got two other bolt rifle in 22 WMR and love them (Marlen 782s, one is Desert the other is black). Now the .17HMR would be interesting....

The issue I'd have with a M&P15-22 in .22 magnum is gonna be the ammo cost! I have an Ithaca lever gun in .22 magnum and I cringe every time I pick up ammo for that rifle. :(

Nope

There isn't anything I can do with a 22mag that I can't do for a fraction of the cost with a 22lr.

For Pete's sake 22mag ammunition costs as much as 9mm and I can't reload the stuff.

I would buy 22 mag , who cares about cost of ammo . Plink with 22 lr , hunt with 22 mag . Another reason to buy another gun . If you want 17 hmr Alexanderarms in Radford Va. makes one.
