I just got in 2 x 10 round 15-22 mags from Midway and load assist buttons from Raven Eye Custom - Rimfire Perfected.

Raven Eye Custom - M&P15-22 Upgrades

I removed the pins from the 10 round magazines and now the magazines are 25 round. I used a very long skinny craftsman screwdriver with a hammer to beat the pin out.

Keys to success to remove pin with screwdriver.
1. Have a very long skinny screwdriver, wrap the screwdriver with tape will help you not mar or scratch magazine
2. Get the angle right when trying to get the tip of screwdriver to hit pin
3. Make sure you have a firm surface below you that magazine will set on
4. Hit the pin a few times with some easy taps to bend it a little
5. Once you have it bent and you see it is bending then get ready and give it a big hit

I tapped mine very easily in the beginning and noticed the pin was bending. I then hit it a little harder and it came free. My pins were not solid. The install of the load assist was super easy.

Please let us know how the load assist buttons work out for you. I'm about to order a set.

I use a golf tee in the assist hole. Works better and easier than the buttons. I reload the converted mag at the range instead of the standard 25's because this.

I did this same conversion and am able to load the mags just using the buttons... don't even "need" the tool. By the way raveneyecustoms has incredible customer service.

For me the tool is just kind of a bonus to the very nice aluminum buttons.. but not so much needed. I do think at a minimum buttons are needed on full 25 rounders - even more so in the cold.

Try it! I think the paint will wear off quickly though, at least where they run through the channel.

I've got all red... no reason for me to try :)

If properly primed & painted I wonder if they would wear off. Guess it partially depends on fit tolerance in the mag.

I ordered 3 of these mags and awaiting arrival. I actually prefer the look of the blue follower. It might just be me, but I think the orange ones make the mags look like mags for a toy gun.

Krylon Fusion plastic paint and Krylon plastic sealant should keep it on there for a long time. It's worked great for me.

I had 1 of these mags and just ordered 5 more from smith cause they dont have the 25's. might paint all the followers black to be more uniform and less toyish.

That is true. Only trying will tell for sure. I ma try it on my blue one when the weather warms up a tad. I don't like spray painting inside.

Thank you! I was looking for a decent tutorial on this, I didn't think it would be so easy

Going to do this. Thanks!

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk and if there are spelling errors, blame my iPhone...not my laziness.

Sorry if this is too obvious, but does the bottom of the magazine simply slide forward to detatch? I was expecting to find a torx bit at the bottom and when I didn't I thought I better check before I go scratching up the magazine. Any help? Thanks!

push in the button on the bottom with a pen tip. Take your thumb and push out the bottom to detach from magazine. Be-careful and keep you thumb over the spring so it does not shoot out and hit you in the face. This is so simple trust me.

Used the screw driver method last night and it was a piece of cake. Thank you raveneye!!!
