Ok some posters have asked about the promag magazines and if they are any good. Since it is extremely difficult, if not impossible, to find factory 25 round mags some of us have bought these magazines. Understand that I have no affiliation with this company or any of its employees so I am unbiased. I am going to try and include pics throughout this thread if I can. I bought 5 magazines and decided to review them for others. I tested these magazines on a brand new m&p 1522 using a brand new Nikon P22 scope mounted using a M223 base. It was a balmy 21 degrees here with a wind chill of 11 degrees. The wind was blowing out of the south/ southwest with 20 mph gusts. There was already 2 inches of snow on the ground with a storm coming to allegedly dump 1 to 4 more inches of snow. So needless to say it was cold and I was trying to get this done quickly. I had my 13 year old son with me to help out.

Ok...you told us all about the weather and the gun:rolleyes:
Only thing I want to know is do they feed reliably, made sturdy, etc....so spill the beans already;)

Man you must have really wanted to test/shoot these mags...Much to wet & cold for me to get out!!!

Of course I was sick as a dog when I got up this morning...

So how'd they do, function?

After getting the gun sighted in, I took one mag and dumped it into a container of very cold water. It stayed there for over 10 minutes soaking while we continued to shoot. I shot the first mag and my son shot the other dry magazines. There were no problems with the dry magazines until the very last round. It failed to feed. I have no clue why this happened. It could have been because of the cold, a bad round, any number of reasons. I shot the wet mag. It shot great and I had NO problems with it. If you look closely in the one pic there, is smoke coming out of the chamber from the heat. My son was impressed and gave it the thumbs up and so do I. This mag would be great for competition or plinking. The only negative thing I noticed was the mag button was loose and made out of plastic. It might need replaced during long term use. This is a great alternative if you want a high cap mag. If you look close at the pics, I have a standard 10 round and a 25 round long mag stacked on one. The mag really hold up in the cold weather, I will leave it up to someone in a hot climate to review if they want. I hope this answers some questions. I will be happy to reply any questions about my evaluation.

This mag is very well made and it was tight in the gun. It did not shake, rattle, roll or move in any way. One thing that both of us noticed was that when you are shooting with this magazine- it takes forever to run out of ammo! If you have a slidefire stock or run competition, this is the mag for you. The reason I dumped a mag in cold water was to simulate using it in the rain or in case you were hunting and slipped while crossing a creek or stream.

The reason I wanted to get this done is because some members want to buy a hi-cap mag and are unsure about what is reliable and functions. I hope this answers everyones question about buying these. BTW- I used no tools to load these mags. The bullets were staggered pretty good and I loaded these mags yesterday afternoon. My son and I were both smiling when we were done.

Just checked their website and the32 rounders are only $16.58 with free shipping. might need to pick up a few.

Well I think its safe to say if pro mag has these in stock, they will be out of stock shortly due to this thread. I ordered a couple the other night. Thanks for the review. And a great sight seeing father and son time.

I'll be glad when mine arrive....hopefully I'll see them in the next couple weeks. Good review, thanks for taking the time.

I just ordered 2 a few minutes ago, but s&h was not free...I'm assuming you're talking about Promags website?

Just ordered some Pmag 32 rounders to test while I'm waiting for my back-ordered mags from Streichers . No free shipping, but thanks for the review.

I like many others have recently purchased my 15-22 and was wanting a few more mags. With this review I went over and ordered 2. With $10 shipping and tax it came out to be about $43. Not too bad. I will wait and see if the prices for the S&W original mags come down and maybe get a couple more. If not I will have enough to handle my simple needs. Now just to find some ammo:mad:

Thanks for the report, especially in the cold.

I am glad my review has answered some of the questions concerning this brand of magazine. I have to say that we enjoyed shooting the mags. My son really liked these mags. He was smiling the whole time he was shooting. We shot offhand at the 50 yrd target. Now I didn't post the picture of the target or how much plywood was lying on the ground. Needless to say our target looked like somebody shot several rounds of 00 buck into it. The ground looked like someone had taken a chainsaw to the plywood. My son thought that was pretty neat. Anyhow I hope everyone enjoyed the pics.

I've had 4 of them on order direct from ProMag for weeks...no ETA yet.

I have been using the 2 Promag 32s I bought in competition since late 2012 with no issues. Now I have a mag that allows me to shoot all 5 runs in a Steel Challenge stage without a reload. Nice job Promag.

Great review, I ordered 4 mags about a week and a half ago and can't wait to get them.
I also am waiting on a Nikon p22 scope on backorder from rrages . How did you like the scope ?

I just picked up one of those Promag magazines for my 15-22. It is a 32 round body, but limited to 10 rounds.

I was amazed at just how closely it resembled the S&W mag. fit and finish are very close between the two.
