Default Magpul MOE Grip

I was looking at Magpul grips at my local gun shop and noticed that it did not have the back indent for the second spring that my 15-22 has. My question is and I am brand new to this can I use this grip without this indent? Any help would be greatly appreciated thanks.

Yes it will work. I changed mine out for an older grip without the indent for the spring

The 15-22 has the spring and detent for the rear take down spring held in place by the grip. On AR15 forged lower receives the spring and detent are not in the same place as the 15-22 and are held in by the receiver extension end plate.

Most grips will work on the 15-22. Any grip that you buy will not have the second hole since they are made primarily for the AR15. You can either drill a hole into the grip that matches the original A2 style grip. Or trim the spring a little bit, but do not trim it flush to the lower, leave a bit sticking out so that there will be spring pressure applied to the detent.

The magpul MOE grip will work just fine without any modification. I have a MOE and a MOE+ grip on my 15-22's and they work great right out of the box, no mods necessary.

As Ghost_Soldier said, do not cut any of your springs.
The MOE grip will work fine. Keep in mind S&W sells a MOE version from the factory: Product: Model M&P15-22 MOE Rifle - Magpul® Sights, Stock and Grip

all you need to do is cut a toothpick to the right size and that's it. Keeps the spring up in there tight and inside the grip snug aswell

Update I got it on yesterday and as said it went on without a whole lot trouble without any mods. It was a little tricky getting the rear spring to cooperate and go back in straight but a with little patience it worked. There is a small gap in the radius but doesn't really look that bad the FDE look and feel of the grip far out weighs the gap. I didn't get the stock they had bricks of Blazer 22lr so I bought ammo instead so it will have to wait till next week will post pics soon as i get the stock on and thanks so much for all your help love the forum.

If your referring to the gap on the back strap, that is normal and the ones from Smith & Wesson are like that as well.
