Medicare Advantage Plans

Aetna PPO, in Florida. Been retired for 3 years and my wife both have it. Have had a chance to change, but we are so pleased with it that we have elected to keep it each time.

When I was bitten by an Eastern Coral snake two years ago, 5 vials of the anti-venom (provided by Florida Poison Control) cost $300,000 (yes, *300,000* because there is a limited supply, since Eastern Coral snake bites (the most poisonous snake in Florida) are fairly rare. And one night in ICU with *constant* care was $40,000.

No one at the hospital had ever dealt with anyone bitten by a Coral. Kind of weird having a BUNCH of doctors and nurses watching for signs that you are croaking, but I never felt bad. I did have a splitting headache because they don't let you fall asleep.

When I saw the bill a few days later, I almost had a heart attack! I thought I'd have to start delivering pizzas to supplement my SS income. However, Aetna came through and I didn't have to spend one cent out of pocket. BTW, cvs is Aetna's parent company.

I am a retired hospital CEO and have some knowledge on the topic. There are many advantage plans out there. Everyone's situation is different and the array of providers in your area varies greatly. Choose wisely as one size does not fit all. From my experience the most heavily advertised companies and plans are not always the best for most folks.

I am also retired military and I have Tricare for Life and for my situation traditional Medicare is the best choice.
My advice is to do some research for your individual needs and not just go with the plan others brag about, as it may be a poor choice for you.

You think you have problems........

I have been happy with my medical problems and doctors but,
one of my new Doctors that charges about $100 a visit is still waiting for the insurance compant to
pay them $615 for their services !!

I guess we "all" have some problems with the new systems ?

They all have a + & - in their plans, that I can see.

Good luck.

We have an Advantage Plan and my wife just had a knee replacement . So far , including therapy co pays we are out around 400 bucks .
