Howdy,

Im looking for pics of yalls hard cases. Im thinking pelican or SKB Mil SPEC. Please post any pics of your cases. I need one big enough to stick extra mags and accessories as my rifle transitions from sniper rifle to Slide fire system. I only use the slide fire stock so no need to carry both stocks but I do have 5 plinker 25 round mags and a 50 round drum, Torch, Sling, Bipod, Scope, flip ups and mag grip that all transition on and off the rifle at will. It would be nice to house all of it as well as about 500 rounds in the case. Id also like it to have locks.

Thanks in advance.

For what a full-sized Pelican costs, you could be well on your way towards a 2nd 15-22. It's not a fragile rifle - I wouldn't bother with the hard case.

Edited to add: They're also incredibly heavy (I have a 1720 for my 18" SPR).

This thread is about hard cases, I obviusly have found a need/want for one. Why argue that point?

Anywho back on topic....

Thanks guys for the photos keep them coming. Looking great so far. You guys are really giving me some good ideas.

Love the re tasking of the two boxes. Very well laid out I must add.

Not sure I would break mine down so far but non the less very well done.

My thoughts exacty. Im looking for something to store the complete rifle assembly and 5x35 round plinker mags and a 50rd black dog drum as well as a red dot, flip ups, hunting scope, Bi-pod, Sling, tactical light and later donw the road maybe even a night vision monocular. I know its over kill but its what I want.

Then something like mine (SKB 2 Carbine ) above may well be what you are looking for. all the mags etc can go on the bottom layer then rifle on top or vice versa.

All the items shown in mine fit in the box no problems at all, however it does make it a little heavy, so you wouldn't want to be walking far carrying it, that said it does have runner wheels built in if you need to wheel it due to weight. :D

That's going to be an awful lot of weight in one case ...

I use a Plano ProMax PillarLock case, got it at Academy for $24. They are $22 at Walmart.com now I see.

roog

Weight isnt an issue for me as I will only be storing and transporting the gun in the case. Not sure why weight would ever be an issue to be honest unless you had a cheap case that cant handle the weight....

I need the case to have locks as I have kids and I dont want them to have access to the gun.

Ill be using custom closed cell foam and a hot wire to make a custom insert.

I hate to thread jack but with my cut down 15-22,
Its 24.5", I have a scope and 6 mags.
Can anyone tell me a cheap small option for a 26"ish case.
Im sorry but $150+ on a case that Im not shipping/traveling in is too costly for me.
I was thinking along the lines of a powertool case or violin/keyboard case.

But you did:D

Forgive me, I don't understand.

Why would anyone spend so much time and money and effort to make a rifle just how they wanted it and then skimp on a few bucks when it comes to protecting it with a good quality case.

Maybe it's because in UK everything is so heavily inflated but I just don't get that. Mine is not a cabinet king and definitely gets used plenty as is evident by marks on SBR and such.

Maybe I'm just protecting my investment, and that of my little helper Elves too, or maybe I just take care of my stuff on a different level.

I'm not OCD about anything but figure as I spent so much why knock it around unnecessarily.

I have a TZ case, model # TZM0043. It has the following features (note that it has a pick'n'pluck layer that isn't showing in the pics as it is currently under the bottom layer of foam):

• Dotted-style ABS side panels
• Aluminum frame
• Molded polypropylene end panels
• Comfort grip handles
• Interior convolute foam as well as a pick-n-pluck layer
• Two key lock latches & two latches with padlock ports
• Wheels for easy transport
• Inside Dimensions: 42.25" x 14.63" x 4.25"
• Outside Dimensions: 43.50" x 16.00" x 5.00"

And....if you live near Northern VA, it is for sale. Only used a couple of times before I decided to go with a soft case. Also, the pick'n'pluck layer has not been used.

I have an old long foam padded 'gun guard' case that i used to carry my Iaito, Bokkens and Shinai in, along with a fancy sword bag made from a unique off-cut from a wedding kimono, bought from the famous Tozando shop in Kyoto (the sword bag not the guncase). I barely use it, in fact the only time i have ever had a rifle in it was when i was going to sell it to a fellow shooter for his .357, it was way too big.
I only live a short way from my local range and so i place mine in my guitar bag, (wrapped up in the in the sword bag) which as luck has it is the perfect dimensions for a rifle, with a lovely foam padded block with velcro straps to rest the neck of the guitar, I mean the end of the handguard in. With enough pockets for mags/ammo, i even manage a flask full of coffee :) plus no one suspects that my guitar is actually an evil black rifle....mwah mwahhahahaha
If its good enough for my guitar its good enough for my rifles, and yes i can get both the 15-22 and the Anschutz in at the same time, but for that i have to sacrifice the flask.

Simple Rob. I have a farm where all I need is a gun locker. I dont travel much with my rifles. Why pay for shooting at a range and paying $20+ in gas to do something free on my land. If I do though, I have a double rifle case to carry multiple rifles. It would be nice to have something other than a backpack to carry everything and the rifle from lock up to my targets in the field.
Thus why I asked. A $150 case for me is overkill. Its tough because a soft rifle case that has enough storage space is still $80+
Anything here in Canada that is firearm related is 10%-50% over priced compared to US pricing.

I feel that pain and then some. :D

I don't have my own land so range trips are the regular. Hence a top quality case for the pick of the best 15-22 that were shipped to UK.

Wouldn't want to damage one if the best ones :-)

Pelican 1750- It holds 2 long guns, with scopes, nv, mags, bipods, suppressors can get 10 mags in. I am not sure about ammo since when I am traveling on the ground the mags are loaded. I went with the 3 layer foam, ( just because), auto pressure release. It weighs 25 lbs +, empty, it has sturdy wheels, 4 locking latches, 2 points for a padlock--> full size master lock, ( definitely not TSA locks), waterproof, chemical proof, shock proof. No I have not thrown it from a plane, used liquid nitrogen, c-4, etc, the Barrett could shoot through it, and yes the Barrett travels in a factory pelican, broken down. I have used Hoppes double case before, they were OK, but over time handles, feet fell off and one hard drop 4-5 ft cracked the corner. I have 4 gun guard double scoped rifle cases which are OK, a little thicker than the Hoppes, plastic is a little tougher. I like the pelicans when I want to know what ever I put in it is safe. Be Safe,
