A few years ago, way back in 2012, I had an incident where I essentially broke my 15-22 http://smith-wessonforum.com/search.php?searchid=6918815. Anyways I kept putting off sending it in to get it fixed (being in school and working didn't help either), but eventually sometime in November I got a return label and finally sent it back. At the end of March, I got my finally got my replacement rifle. After three years of having to borrow my dad's M&P, I finally got one of my own again. I was fully expecting to pay for any warranty work since I thought the warranty would be out, but to my surprise it was covered under warranty. I got a brand new, plain jane rifle like the one I first bought when they came out! And in its cardboard box it shall stay unfired and here's why.

In the past year me, my dad and my brother have gotten into the fun and addicting world of the NFA and I actually have my own 22 and 556 suppressors. This new rifle will be my project gun. I'll be getting it threaded so I can use my can on it. While I'm at it I'll be changing out just about everything (rail, stock, trigger, & sights) and going to be getting it cerakoted in german field grey that my LWRC IC-A5 is coated in. Pretty excited that my plain jane 22 is going to match my main rifle.

Did you have to fill out alot of paperwork and have reciepts?
Here in Canada our 15-22 are classified as restricted. Thus warrenty work is a pain.

Don't forget some pictures when your done.

Will do. This is the rail I'm planning on using. This shop is local to me, and they'll be threading the barrel & doing the cerakote. I'm really good friends with the owner and his main gunsmith, and they let me in the back of their custom shop to help out sometimes. Great guys, the guy that does the cerakote for them is a freakin wizard with the stuff. Check them out next time you need a rifle coated.

Nope, no receipts to deal with. The only paper work I had to was for the 4473 because I got a gun with a new serial number. Other than that that's about it.

Yes, I plan on having it done by this year! I've got a potential job lined up building a barn house with my neighbor and if that doesn't line up I have a great back up cleaning roofs. The small parts like the stock and grip I can add any time, along with the rail adapter. Haven't picked out a trigger yet, leaning towards the Geissele 2 stage, I've got a SSA-E in my LWRC. The biggest cost is going to be the rail, cerakote work, and getting the barrel threaded.

Wow only a few oz more than the taccom handguard.
Loks good if ypur jumping on the keyhole bandwagon.

I'm a fan of the m-lok more, I'm just wondering if this will leave no gap like the factory rail. I wonder if there are any plans for a mlok rail.
