Has anyone replaced the stock hammer spring with the JP yellow hammer spring? Does it still give reliable ignition on rimfires?
Not in most cases. I used the yellows with the RRA trigger in my PC model for a couple of years with no issues until replacing it with a Geissele Super 3-Gun trigger. I even tried the yellows on that and they worked fine but the trigger was too light (1.25# on my trigger gauge). I don't, however, use standard velocity or match ammo in my 15-22 (a waste of good ammo) when CCI AR-Tactical or MiniMags cycle better. If i remember correctly from other threads on this subject....The JP yellow spring mod should only be done on the trigger spring, the hammer spring causes FTF and light strikes.
I would not remove the spur. Lightening the hammer is a good thing on center fires, they like a higher velocity strike but it's not what rimfires like.So I have a spare hammer and I'm going to remove the spur and see if lightening the trigger helps. That's all I got.
