Is anyone using the gen2 m-lok rail covers from magpul? In looking at the product description, the polymer rail isn't mentioned. So after contacting magpul, they confirmed that I needed gen 1. Problem is, I don't really like that style much. I prefer the gen 2. Anyone know of something similar that'd fit? I tried searching, but didn't get much.

Neither M-LOK type 1 or type 2 install on a rail. These are meant to be installed on M-LOK compatable hand guards like the ones that come on the M&P 15-22 MOE SL. In fact that rifle ships with a set of type 2 panels (6 total panels).

Yes, after re-reading what I typed, I see the problem. It's the factory m-lok polymer handguard. I'm talking about the newer style, not the one with the rail, but the smooth slim line type.
If it were the one with the actual rails, then there's several choices.

I have the new style handguard on my 15-22, and I have ordered a set of gen 1 covers from Magpul. When they arrive, in a couple of days, I'll address the fitment of them.

I am using the type 2 covers on my new sport and they work just fine. No fitment issues at all and they are tight on the hand guard. They are very "grippy" actually, the type ones are just stripes of rubber.

I too use the type 2 covers on my SL. They fit well and are easy to install, reposition or remove. If and when I need rail space other than the flat top I'll attach the appropriate M-LOK compatible rail as needed.

I suspected that was the case, even though the product description clearly says non polymer type handguards. So today I made time to stop by a gun store, that sold both the rifle, and the covers. So I grabbed the box of covers and asked the guy to hand me a rifle, it seemed that there'd be no problem whatsoever with fitment. Unfortunately no one around here sells the covers in green. If I'd wanted black I would've just bought em, and returned if they didn't fit. But mail order complicates that process.
So I'm gonna call this problem solved. Thanks for the input guys!

I finally received the covers for my m-Lok handguard. Yes, they are kinda like rubber strips, but they are quite grippy and add virtually no bulk to the handguard. I like the slim feel of them.

Yep, it stays that way hanging on the wall in my study, chamber empty tho. Any strange noises and chamber a round and go find it.

Where did you find these? I'm looking for the gray ones. Did you get them online? Thanks. Yours look good.

I ordered them from Magpul. They sell direct and you can order them online. They are the M-Lok rail covers, type one. Part number MAG602 I think.

I don't know if they are available in grey, but mine are black and fit fine, and actually appear dark grey.

Here's a direct link to Brownell's site for those covers:

I have the Keymod variant of those covers on my AR and they work great!

what kind of bipod is that I see mounted in the above pictures?

The Bipod say's it's an Atlas. I wouldn't guarantee that is isn't a knock-off tho. I recal only paying about $50.00 for it on fleabay, maybe even less. It came with the attached quick disconnect mount that mounts to a short piece of picatinny rail. I use it on the 15-22 and my AR rifles too.

Even if it isn't genuine, I have had no problems with it, but I only use it at the range on the bench. I don't knock it around a lot, so I can't verify if it will take a licking and keep on ticking.
