I wish I could post pics but here is the question.. The blue box label is normal except at the very bottom where it just says Smith & Wesson. To the left it says page 993 to the right says PS16534. The gun is unfired still in factory grease. Google didn't help. Thanks

The left number sounds like an FFL holder wrote in the page number of his firearm acquisition/ disposition logbook for this gun. Maybe the right-side number is some sort of stock inventory numbering by someone. It's fairly common for people to write, stamp, or put printed stickers on gun box labels. I know I've seen my share of them. Take care.

Please define "it says".

Are the entries typed on a sticker, written in ink or grease pencil, or something else?

Like Lonestar57, I've seen lots of "stuff" stuck on and written on labels, and I'm pretty sure it wasn't done at the factory.

Not surprised Google didn't help. Even a good search engine couldn't.

The entire white label is hand written in blue ink. The info I am asking about looks like the same person wrote it, if not same time. Gun is serial R268977. Dates to about 1970. Thanks!
