Hello all,

Looking for some help with my Magpul BAD levers. I bought one about 2-3 years ago from Midway, which has since been sitting on my BR99 shotgun and has worked flawlessly for the whole time. It also works (without modification) on my S&W M&P 15-22.

Rather than continually swapping it between the two guns I bought another one, this time from Brownells, and have noticed that it is not the same as the first one, it also doesn’t work properly on my 15-22 as it stops the last round bolt hold open from working.

I note however, that this is a common problem and people have said that it needs to be bent to work on the 15-22 without interfering with the BHO. This leads me to think that either Magpul has changed the design of the BAD lever over the years, or the first BAD lever wasn’t genuine.

Midway lever;

Brownell lever;

The Midway BAD lever has a painted/baked almost gloss finish, whereas the Brownells one is matt and a phosphor type finish. The Midway one is also has a much more pronounced bend to it when viewed from the side. The Brownell one is also very slightly heavier.

Does anyone know if the first one may not be genuine? And more to the point, where I can get another one that actually works properly on both guns in the UK!

I thought it was common knowledge that the BAD lever does not work on a 15-22 without bending to fit. Mine had to be adapted to fit but works flawlessly once it has been. So it looks like your first lever has a different design. NDZ do a custom SBR, that would be a better option.

To have a genuine Magpul lever to fit it will need bending as GM

suggests,GM got lucky with his as the extra weight of the lever

can cause problems with the last shot bolt open.I think you

need a contact across the pond for the NDZ lever

Nah, i did not get lucky my good man, i had a professional do the job. He was great. He bought the BAD lever and meticulously bent it so that it worked. At his admittance he did such a great job that he actually did one for himself. Great guy, also did my barrel work.

I did pay way over the odds for it though :eek:

It IS common knowledge that the BAD lever doesn't immediate fit the 15-22, hence my surprise that the one i already had before from Midway i got the rifle not only fitted, but worked flawlessly! It was only when i got the one from Brownells that the issue became evident :(

I did swap them over but the shotgun receiver is even wider than the 15-22 and the lever barely pokes out of the side, it also runs really close to the top of the trigger guard so its next to impossible to actuate.

I've got a shooting buddy heading over to the states next month and he's agreed to get me an NDZ lever, which will go on my 15-22 and my original BAD lever can go back on my shotgun. :)

I'd still like to know if anyone else has come across the 'other' version of the BAD lever that i got from Midway? I've even looked at the Chinese knock offs and PTS versions and they all seem to be the same as the Brownells one, weird!
