you will need a few items to remove the stock hand guard and a barrel nut to install the free floating and/or drop in hand guard. I have most of those items in my parts bin. :D
I will post them in the classifieds if you are interested.
pm me.
good luck!

I just got the M-LOK for my gun and I have a quad rail thats left over. As mentioned you will need a barrel nut tool to remove yours and you will need a barrel clamp. Both of these items can be bought or made.

PM me and we can probably work something out on a hand guard. I also have a line on other factory parts but S&W doesn't sell hand guards etc. They keep all their parts in house for repairs and who knows what else.

As for upgrades there is a different place for almost everyone of them. Figure out what you want and then make a thread on that part for others input. After that make your own opinion and go out and get it at the cheapest or most reliable retailer.

I'd consider swapping my quad-rail for the M-LOK straight up... Send me a PM if interested; As far as the barrel nut tool - I made several from PVC and metal that work fine. It's not hard - basically cut 4 notches such that they leave teeth at 0, 90, 180 and 270 degrees. The teeth are about 1/4" wide, and about 1/8 deep. Takes about 10 minutes with a dremel.

As others have said, clamp the barrel, not the upper receiver when you remove the flash hider and/or barrel nut.

I just joined to ask if I could get my hands on a stock Mlok and swap out my stock quadrail. Did I read right that S&W does not sell that hand guard so I would have to find someone to swap? Does anyone make a mlok polymer hand guard that fits like stock?

I just ordered Rail M lok, for 15-22, instead going with Quad, don't need to add weight.

Thanks for your help.

Bought it from Midway, along with Riser 0.83 for my red dot.

In my opinion nothing fits like factory. Even the after market handguards will require a free float conversion nut and after that they dont exactly mesh with the upper. Only the factory hand guard will match the upper and angle out to the fore end. Not to say that aftermarket will look bad.

The factory M-LOK is as light as I can find and the quad rail isnt much heavier but it is heavier. Depending on what you want. The M-LOK is more desirable as most folks have the quad rail. Like I said if you need a factory quad rail let me know.

Here is the link to the VISM Rail Bassyaks mentioned.
NcSTAR Vism M and P 15-22 Keymod Free Float Handguard VMP22FFKMR Up To 19% OFF New Product

Notice how it doesn't flare down at the end where it meets the upper this means instead of a good even flow the gun will have a ridge where the two meet. Since bassyaks has this rail maybe he can supply a picture so you can see what I am talking about. Its all about what your looking for. :)

For me I was unwilling to add weight and I wanted clean lines like factory. M-LOK was the only candidate left.
