Scope mount torque

What are you setting the scope mount to the receiver at for torque. Manufacturer specs for the mount is 65 inch pounds. This seems to be pretty tight for a polymer receiver.

I have been using 20-25 inch pounds with zero issues. The polymer rail doesn't deform and the mounts stay tight.
 
30 inch pounds for the base screws and 25 for the rings is generally what is recommended.
 
I would simply contact the manufacturer for their polymer specs and also go by the optics manufacturer specs for the optic itself.
 
Where would I find a tool to measure inch-pounds?

65in/lbs is a crazy amount, especially on a polymer frame. I;ve seen instructions for aluminium parts saying not to go over 18-20!

The mount is a Warne, and yes per the instructions mounting scope to rail is 65 inches. I have contacted them and they do not have specs for polymer.

15-25 inches seems to be the range for the actual rings across the board for several manufactures, but

The base spec are all over the board from what I have seen.

Yes Wheeler makes a "fat wrench" that is a screw driver type of torque wrench.

I use a Snap-On inch pound wrench as I already own it.

When looking at torque wrenches invest properly. Tool is designed to be a precision unit. Accuracy, reliability, repeat-ability is everything.

This is defiantly a scenario of you get what you pay for.
