I have a few. Whether red or green, the visible range will normally be limited to 10 meters or so in bright sunlight. If the target is shaded, that can greatly extend the range.

NS Star make some semi decent laser units. I haven't tried one in a couple years but they had a nice PEQ style box that worked really well.

I have a Sight Mark LoPro green laser sight (about $100) from Midway. It mounts in front of my red dot on the Pic rail. Works real good, especially indoors. It also holds zero extremely well, in fact I haven't had to adjust it since I originally zeroed it.
