Just recently bought mine
Love it. Ill post some pics of mine as soon as I get a chance, ive added some cool stuff to it.
I was reading through this thread and saw a post earlier saying "less is more" or whatever. Well thats one mans opinion..
I dont care if its a .22, Ive seen .22 do more damage than a higher caliber.
If the .22 doesnt kill, it WILL maim.
So dont feel bad when you dress up your 15-22, take pride in the fact that you live in the USA and you have every right to do whatever you want to do to your rifle Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
Pics soon...

30 yrs ago one of my dads buddies killed a small black bear in Fla. after 30+ rounds

Who feels bad.... the rifle has about 4 feet of rail space... what else is it for?
That being said... us Long Gun 15-22 forum contributers here are getting slammed pretty good in the "Lounge" section of S&W forums. Fake Suppressors
I was gonna post a reply but I figured that was probably the only fun they had this week.

Unfortunately there are some people who feel that you must belittle others for harmless opinions that differ from their own, all in an effort to impress their peers, who also often do the same thing. I don't care for true mall ninjas, but adding a fake can alone does not classify you as one in my book. It takes quite a bit more than that IMO.

I couldnt agree more. I could care less what the next guy does to his rifle, because Im not the one paying for it, he is! i personally think a bi-pod on this gun is pointless, but others like them.. whatever makes them happy!

Well, assassins with a .22 can do some real damage with one well placed shot, but my 15-22 is definitely NOT for home defense.
I'd rather spray some serious lead, and do some mop up, a little extra drywall repair and re-carpeting, than to just tick off someone with a .22LR who may escape, and come back later for revenge ...

Just got what the dealer said was a second generation m&p 15-22. It is threaded and has a flash suppressor. Also stock is six position. They say the problem with misfires is fixed. Thru 400 rounds mine is great!!

This is NOT a flame, but to those who put an Eotech(sp?) on their M&P15-22, what is the point of putting on a scope that costs more than the rifle? I understand that optics are often more than the rifle, but for a .22 is it worth it?

Why not, if one can.
And what's wrong with .22lr. Gun is gun no matter what caliber it is.

i think its funny that people younger than i am are refering to me as a "MALL NINJA". As far as i can tell the loudest voices over there have zero military or law enforcement training but pretend to know all there is to know about firearms....hmmm...has anyone read the definition of mall ninja lately?
Also guys, dont let them get to you, by their own admission they are on here of all things to trade ......recipes????
At least we talk about a particular rifle we all enjoy.
The thing about these forums is, they're full of arm chair eletists that try to take the fun out of it.
Just some swamp land lawyer with nothing better to do.
in my head all these people look like this...

In my case my extra 512 will be going on the 15-22 to match up with the one on my flat-top AR. I want it to be as close as possible to my flat-top for familiarity and so my son can get used to the lighter 15-22 (which he can shoulder) so that when he can shoulder my ARs he'll be able to 'step right in' and be (mostly) familiar with the weapon, with a lower learning curve, just new ammo and a forward assist to deal with.
I purchased that 'extra' 512 to use on my Beretta carbine, but over time it proved too wide and got in the way of manually operating the bolt, so my Burris FFII went back on the Beretta and the extra 512 has been sitting on my workbench, lonely, but not forgotten.
The sights are somthing that will probably also be replaced to match to the Troy folders on my flat-top AR. I cringe at that since I actually have to go out and buy them!

I have an idea.... why don't you and Reelman get together. Reelman is questioning why people put inexpensive optics on their 15-22. Ya'll are the perfect team to solve the 15-22 optics dilemma. Let us know what you guys figure out...
In the meantime.... I'm still looking for a mount for my Tacticandle.

Am i missing something
That picture is funny and i get that its a joke. . .but why do alot of people keep there iron sights on after they get a red dot or a scope. I understand back up flip up sights. Is it just for the picture? I have a sightmark on mine and i love it! But the stock iron sights get in the way and are not needed. yet almost everypicture with optics shows the original irons still on??????

I guess for backup purposes, if they were flip up I wouldn't see an issue, but with fixed sights, once the gun is zero'd in on the optic I wouldn't keep my rear fixed sight on, the front maybe..

is the carry handle/sight on your right side rail so you can aim when you hold your 15-22 sideways like a hollywood gangsta? that is brilliant. you never know when your first two pair of irons will be rendered useless in a mall ninja op. having the third set just seems smart!
that pic is pretty good!

Well Im glad we can all laugh at ourselves around here, which i think DIS-PROVES the whole "mall-ninja" thing.
By the way, did a lil googling during the presidents speeech about "mall ninjas" and found the origin.
Shrine of the Mall Ninja * LonelyMachines
...the fact that anyone actually believed this was real says alot about the intellect of the average forrum-nazi.
Happy Shooting .....my new wall paper.....

OMG That Mall Ninja stuff is killing me, my sides hurt so bad. People really wrote that stuff. It is very entertaining tho. I could not keep the vision of Paul Blart: Mall Cop from popping into my head. TOOOO funny, thanks for the link. Sweet wallpaper.

Have a reading problem, Phil? I clearly stated that I had NO intention of flaming. I don't own (can't afford) any electronic optics so I don't know if there is purpose in adding a $600 sight to a $400 gun. I'm asking if it is that much better, or is there another reason (making the gun match another gun like the other guy said)?
