I've had 3 M&Ps done by Robar applying their NP3 electroless nickel finish. Today I took my compact 45 to the range and ran 200 rounds thru it. This is my favorite M&P and shooting several combat drills at 10, 15 and 25 yards, I even like it more. Smith & Wesson really hit a home rum with this series and will rightly gain back some of the LE market they once owned. I own a fullsize 9mm, a compact 9mm and this compact 45. Anyone contemplating buying one of these will be glad they did. I can say enough about the Robar NP3 finish, it not only makes cleaning a breeze it also requires very little lubrication.

I have owned an MP 40 since they came out. I paid 399 dollars, checked at the gun store/range last night this same gun is going for 589 dollars there, over priced in my opinion. I realize things go up in price but 200 dollars seems extreme for a plastic pistol. However I love my MP 40 and have shot the devil out of it, over 10K rounds. Mag yours looks great with that slide refinished.

Robar offers several different finishes, I opted for the NP3 electroless nickel where all metal parts are plated. The cost was $170 with a 2 month wait, but it was well worth the wait.

I opted for a Robar finish as well to improve the appearance of my poor factory finished slide on my XD. It does however make it difficult at times to pull the slide back with sweating/dirty hands, especially when cleaning. As you know, it can be slick. I think if my model XD slide had deeper/closer cutout serrations, it might work better. Nonetheless, I'm happy with the Robar finish.

The M&P45c's a great gun. I usually don't like a 2 tone gun, but that Robar finish makes the gun look awesome. It would be a perfect plainclothes gun. I really like the M&P45 series.

Yes I recently bought a M&P45 mid size (10+1). I have Glocks but I think these M&Ps are phenomenal and will be buying one of the compact ones shortly. THis is my first .45 caliber of any type and my first .45 gun period. (Only two years into hand guns)

I just can't say enough about this line of guns.

I like the look of two-tone polymer guns... I have my .45 PX4 being cera-plated by CCR. Personally, I'd recommend them.

Cera-plate and NP3 are pretty similar. I did a lot of looking on SIG Forum, being CCR is pretty big there. A lot of people say that cera-plate is better than NP3, due to it not being as slick. That was a big thing for me.

The second thing was cost. For $379, I am having my pistol and seven magazines plated (the frame will be completely disassembled, and the only things not plated will be polymer parts and the extractor). I'm also having a Stealth decocker and Trijicon sights installed, as well as night sights being added to another slide. That is also shipping it back to me...

After taking a look at Robar's pricing, I would be paying somewhere in the neighborhood of $500. I say neighborhood, being I'm not sure how they would handle a larger job like mine. Still, if they do consolidate some costs considering what I want to have done, they are not getting into the $379 range.

Now, if I was looking to have the polymer frame modified, I may have paid the extra to send it to Robar. Not sure. All I know is that my past experience with CCR was great, and I really can't see a way that Robar could improve (well, maybe turning it around quicker, but I rather wait for something to be done right).

I had a range session with some friends today and we were all shooting M&P9 compacts this time. I've been having so much fun with my compact 45 I forgot how much fun the 9c is as well. After the range (we ran out of ammo) we came back to my place to clean out pistols. My 2 friends have standard melonite finishes, they were impressed by how much easier it was to clean my pistol. Not only can you see the dirt and carbon, you just wipe it away with a patch. Makes me wonder why S&W doesn't just leave the finish off their already stainless steel slides, like on their other models.

I wish S&W would have a silver version of the M&P.

It is a shame that those of us that like silver guns have to pay full price, then pay a extra couple hundred and be without said gun while it is transformed into the "right" color.

10 year old Robar finish....money well spent!

Great looking PX4, I just sent my new Compact PX4 to Robar this afternoon. They do great work and I have a lot of confidence in their product although I hear CCRs CeraPlate is excellent also.
