Anyone else think the M&P grip is too slippery?

I tried tac-grip, but it felt cheap, and it doesn't cover the rear aspect of the back strap.

Overall, the grip just seem slippery. Anyone else feel the same?

Not anymore. I bought a "Milwaukee Grip" replacement backstrap.

Google "Milwaukee grip M&P" and follow the first link. I'm not affiliated with him in any way, just a satisfied customer.

What do you use for grip on the front strap area?

Nothing yet. I wish the front strap was removable and I could have the same coating on it. Then I would be really happy.

Not yet willing to modify the actual frame yet.

Lots of people do there own grip texturing with a soldering iron you just have to find someone who knows what their doing. These pics are a guy that did his own.

I sent my FS M&P 45 to Boresight Solutions for stippling work. Ben Simonson is absolutely the best in the business, as far as I'm concerned. My M&P feels like it's glued to my hand now.

I actually like how the grip feels. Seems like it would be comfortable for longer range sessions. I briefly pondered an XD or XDm a while ago but the thing that turned me off was the chunkiness of the grip. It was just hard plastic teeth all over the grip. Not pleasant, so I put it right back down and kept looking.

I bought some 3M non-slip floor tape at Lowe's and use it on various pistols to make them easier to grip. On the M&P, a two inch long/1 inch wide piece around the front strap, and a small square above/behind the mag release (where my thumb rests) seems to work great.

I use the same floor tape with outstanding results and the tape is results are reversible if I don't like it. Cost is about a dollar.
Might work for you as well.

Try the next largest grip insert, if you're not already on the largest. For some reason, going to a slightly larger back strap than what I think I need makes the gun feel more solid in the hand when firing, whereas with the smaller backstrap I feel like the gun could use some stippling or grip tape.

Hmmm...I never even thought about that floor tape idea! I might have to try that on my 4006. It has just the plastic side grips that basically suck. LOL I've just been too lazy to ever search to try and find better grips for it. :D

X2....I did this, and have to agree. I wear size large gloves, but wouldn't consider myself have bear paws by any means. In addition, my wife would tell ya I'm a clammy and sweaty ba$tard who never gets cold in the winter.

Best solution is to stipple the grip as SemperFuzz (1 post) did.
His pics are great and a nice job. I stipple my compact with a
fairly fine point soldering iron and it came out great. It is not as
aggressive as SemperFuzz's, but is lock down solid feel-wise and
looks sharp as well.

Don't feel like it's a big job. Just take your time and you'll be
pleased with the results. As a a 78 yr old member of the "over the hill gang" can readily attest. It's well worth the modest effort!

Have fun and enjoy!

check out talon grips for ten bucks they are hard to beat. also the shipping is fast. I shot a compact and like the finger extension mags so I asked for an extra and they sent it along with the grip at NO CHARGE.
