M&P9 feed ramp?
My new M&P9 2.0 arrived today. One question about the barrel. All black except the feed ramp. Not sure if it was polished or if the black just didn't cover that part? Seemed strange, or maybe not. Is this normal?

Yes, normal. I noticed this when I got mine, too. This is the only time I've seen a factory polish and radius job done as a matter of course. Very cool from Smith.

It's not really polished...it's just smoothed out a bit. I just installed a True Precision Stainless Steel threaded barrel. It has a wider feed ramp and I polished the whole barrel to a chrome like finish using Mothers Mag Wheel and Aluminum Polish. I'm going to do the same to an extra factory barrel that I have next.

Are you sure you want to remove the protective finish on the factory barrel just for cosmetics?

I polish mine as well. Never had an issue and it cleans up really easily. I'm not storing them in damp locations and never had rusting issues.

A polished stainless steel barrel looks pretty sharp and besides I have 2 factory barrels and an extra slide...I can put the gun back to original if need be. Plus I'm meticulous about keeping the gun clean

Haven't figured out how to post a pic yet. In any case the True Precision Stainless Steel threaded barrel was just a dull finish (new) and I spent about 2 hrs using a buffing wheel and the Mothers Mag and Aluminum Polish on it. I like this barrel...the feed ramp is noticeably wider than the factory barrel. The factory barrel I haven't started on yet, still soaking in vinegar which softens up and makes the factory finish easier to come off...SO never use vinegar to clean your gun!
