Thinking about some new night sights for my fs 40. Just trying to get some opinions from those who have both. Ive also heard that fiber optic lumination fades after a couple of years. If so, whose last the longest. Thanks!

I have tru glo tfo on my Glock and really like them. If I change the sights on my 9 Pro, they would be my first choice unless I find something better.

Probably Ameriglo. Too many reports of the fibre insert falling out on TFOs.

I have the TFO's and love them. I also read many posts about "friends" who reported that problem. Yet I have never met a single person who actually "had" the problem.

+1 on the TFO's.

TRUGLO FOR ME!

I JUST GOT THE TFO'S ON MY 40 AND I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THEM! I LIKE HAVING NIGHT SIGHTS AND SUPER FAST ACQUISITION IN THE DAYLIGHT ALL IN ONE SIGHT! :)

The Bowie Tactical Ameriglos are tritium and are about $70, which is way cheaper than most other tritium sights. I ordered a set, but have not been able to install and try them out yet. Bowie Tactical is a well known gunsmith and makes/endorses quality gear.

Went ahead and ordered the tru-glo TFO a couple of days ago. Price was to good to pass up at 95.00 from Midway. Plus they are tritium for night, and fiber optic for bright light. Best of both worlds. Thanks for all the input.

Hey guys, Are these fiber optic sights something one can install on their own or is it best done at the gunsmith? I have no fancy tools or ability with these things!

Definitely recommended to have installed by a gunsmith. Unless you happen to know someone with a sight pusher, which is not a cheap tool. My lgs does them for 25.00.

I have the Ameriglo on a Glock 19 and TFO's on a Glock 26 & 27. The Ameriglo is a nice tritium sight but the TFO gives us elders a good advantage for both day and low light advantage.

The TFO sights are about 6 & 7 years old and still just as good as new. Never a problem with the fiber optics on either of them. My Glock 26 has the yellow rear and green front. The yellow is not as bright as the green but that is characteristic with their yellow.

Tritium sights have a normal life of approximately 12 years and I have had one XS tritium sight for about 11 years and it is starting to get dim. I am getting ready to install tritiums on my M&P's and it will likely be TFO's.

Hope that helps a little.

Great info Terry! Good to know the TFOs tritium, has that much

longevity. Was hoping to hear from someone who's had them for a while. Thanks! And yes, should be helpful for our elder eyes.

I have ameriglo sights on my fs 40, and TFO's on my 40 pro. Both excellent sights. I prefer the TFO's better target acquisition both day and night, and brighter. Just FYI, botach.com has the Truglo TFO sights for $79.00 and free shipping.

Check out xd-hs2000. I just had James install a set of TruGlo TFO's on my Shield. He did a fantastic job with a 24 hour turnaround. He charges $99.50 and that includes the sights, installation, and return priority mail shipping.

Now that's a great deal w/installation and shipping. Ordered some TFO's the other day for that price, but that was just for the sights alone. Will keep it in mind for my set for the shield when i get it. Hey Surgical, where do you get you're gunsmithing done in New Port Richey?

I do all my own, I'm a retired LEO, was armorer and gunsmith for Department.

BTW, will work for ammo. LOL

I have Tru Glo TFO's on my full size M&P9 I bought used a few months back. Sights came with it. I Love the sights but the front came sight rod fell out last weekend. I called Tru Glo Friday and they game me an RMA for installation of new sights at no charge. They gave me the option of sending the sight for exchange or mail in the the slide and they will install it and ship it back. They say 1 - 2 day turnaround time. That's good customer service to me. Not sure how long the guy had the sights or their care prior to me but I do know it's an 09 pistol. We'll see how long they last on a new installation. TFO's are great though.

Lol i like that. Will work for ammo! Might take you up on that someday. Thanks for your service to our community!
