Ammo Recommendations for MP 9MM
Howdy All - I just purchased a new MP 9MM and was wondering what kind of ammo you can recommend for both plinking/practice and self-defense. Any and all suggestions are appreciated. Thank you in advance for your responses.

I don't want to be sarcastic by any mean but on these days use any 9mm ammo you are capable to find…… if you are able find it.

I like to use the Federal 9mm bulk pack, when I can find it.

My M&P 9 does well with whatever I put through it. Find some cheap ammo (if you can find any ammo) and have fun.

I stopped in there a couple days ago and picked up some Federal as well. Always make it a habit to ask at Walmart if they have it in stock. Salem wasn't showing it on their website or behind the glass. Woman asked me if I was looking for ammo (was looking at safes) I told her no 9 so I was all set She then proceeded to ask how do I know there is no 9?? After a couple of back and forths it turns out she had a crapload of 9
Moral here is to always ask no matter what!

You are lucky. Here in Miami (in 5 Walmarts) there is zero 9mm on the shelfs for almost a month.

Ammo Recommendations for MP 9MM
If you can find it Winchester White Box 100 packs work good in mine. I just reload now. But finding small pistol primers is becoming just as difficult as finding 9mm.

I've run the following 115 gr fmj range ammo through my M&P 9mm FS; WWB, American Eagle, PMC, Sellot & Belliot(sp), Remi UMC. All worked flawlessly.

m&p's seem to be very versatile when it comes to ammo. I have used several different kinds & never had a prob. I like Blazer brass or Blazer steel 115 gr (cause I'm cheap)

Ammo Recommendations for MP 9MM
First, congrats on your new M&P 9. You purchased a fine handgun. For plinking/practice buy whatever 115gr factory ammo is the cheapest. If you're not planning to take up reloading, steel case Russian ammo works fine. If you're going to reload, buy the least expensive brass cased 115gr. Thanks to the Great Firearms and Ammunition Panic of 2013, buy whatever factory 9mm ammo you can find.
For defense, buy any decent JHP round from a reputable manufacturer and you should be good to go. I like to use Hornady Critical Defense 147gr JHP or a Hornady Critical Duty 115gr JHP +P.
Happy & Safe Shooting,
John

Ammo Recommendations for MP 9MM
My M&P 9 mm shoots fine with all types and weights of 9 mm ammo.
Mine seems to shoot a little truer with heavier bullets at 7-10 yards -124 grain works really well.
For SD I use Fed Hollow points in both FS and Shield 9mm.

Congtats on your new purchase. If the 9 is anything like my M&P 40 it'll eat anything you feed it.
