Take a look at the S&W web page. They offer a holster for the compacts. It's called the Speed Scabbard. It appears to be a good looking serviceable OWB holster. I don't know who makes them for Smith but if you can find out it might be a bit cheaper not to have the S&W logo stamped on it.

There's a holster made by Bianchi called the "Consent" which comes with an extra pair of belt snaps that convert this OWB holster to IWB. That looks interesting to me. I'd like to try IWB for a change without having to buy a second holster. The Bianchi "Classified" is the same but with a thumb break & both sell for about $55. Once I get my 40C delivered to the gun store I'll have to check if those holsters come in that size. I know the S&W holster will fit the compacts.

Like many of us you'll probably wind up with a drawer full of them. Some are just uncomfortable, some have the wrong cant & some don't live up to their ads. Sometimes a good belt is all a "bad" holster needs to be a good one.

If kydex is ok with you, contact Paul at pjholster.com. High quality, fair price, slim and tight fitting OWB (I've posted with pics of my PJ OWB/Shield on this forum). I don't like paddle holsters. His are easy on and off with clips if that is the style you want. Waiting on another from him now for my CS9. Deliv time at 5 wks now. Good luck.

I have a Blackhawk concealable slide that I like alot. It's a belt loop holster that snaps on/off. It rides high and close, and since the bottom is open it will fit any length M&P (except the .45; you can get one for it, too).

OWB from Paul Giannaula at PJ Holster.

It has a nifty little tab folded under at the bottom of the belt loop, which is part of the one-piece design of the holster. This feature allows instant removal without snaps or other gadgets. It is a simple and elegant design.

Easy on, easy off and super high quality. This one is the Georgia Snap made for a lefty, black and for a M&P.45 full size. It conceals nicely.

I have a Don Hume 721OT for my 40c. It's very sturdy and fairly comfortable to wear. They do make one for the FS as well.

I also like Don Hume. I have a couple of the JIT Slide Holsters, one fits all my 3rd Gens & the other fits my M&P's. They're pretty reasonable & you can find them on ebay for about $26.00 shipped.
