Guilty.
The checkout process only had the option to ship to the closest Gander Mountain (For me, 2 hours away) but reading this page it looks like they will ship to a FFL. The customer service line is done for today and will be back at 9am EST tomorrow so I'm going to call them tomorrow as well to make sure my order is shipped to my FFL. Otherwise I may cancel my order or do a roadtrip.

I hope you get one. I'm not in the market yet for one until my wife gets to shoot one. I picked up a M&P15 for mt wife to go along with her lil sister pink 15-22 today, for a great price at Academy Sports.

Yeah I haven't shot one yet however I've shot the m&p 9, m&p 9c, and m&p .40. My range doesn't have a shield to rent, but I just held the shield 40 and 40c at a gun show today. Price tag was $599 on the shield 40 and $575 on the 40c
I'm waiting on my CCL to be approved so I should be able to get pretty comfortable with the shield before I start carrying.

Yes I submitted an order and got confirmation but I need to call them tomorrow to have them ship it to my FFL. Otherwise I need to cancel the order or take a 2 hour Roadtrip to go get it.
Thanks for the heads up on the availability. Beats the $599 price tag on the shield at the gun show today.

Wonderful.. Looks like I have to take a 200 mile (1 way) roadtrip later this week/weekend. I called customer service and they said that if I changed my order there was a 98% chance that I'd lose the order and be put on backorder. I did some quick math and if I take the 4 cylinder I'll be out about $50 in gas versus a $20 FFL charge so for a $30 difference I told him to go ahead and leave it as is... I already ordered an extra magazine for it so it'd be pretty depressing having a magazine and no gun.

Just a heads up if you ordered a shield from Gander Mountain. In the past I've been on their website and seen that the shield was in stock. I made the purchase put my credit card info in and received a confirmation email that my order went through. On my account, on the Gander Mountain website, it showed that my purchase was at the delivery dock waiting to be picked up. After about four days, I received a call from Gander Mountain that they had made a mistake and they did not have the shield in stock. This happened to me on three separate occasions. I think Gander Mountain gets a few shields in stock, listed on the website, and sell out so quickly that they can't pull it off the website fast enough. Hopefully that doesn't happen to any of those that may purchases under this thread.

That seems pretty crazy... Did you get a email with the tracking # for ship to store and everything?
My tracking # says it left NC today and should be in Kansas on Wednesday. I'll most likely make the road trip to pick it up on Saturday. Any tips? I'm gonna call the store to verify it's there because I don't want to drive all that way for nothing. Any idea how the NICS checks are nowadays? I've never been delayed but would hate to drive 200 miles to be delayed or denied for some unknown reason.

Gonna go pick it up this weekend since it's a little bit of a road trip.

My brother bought a Shield,in Dallas yesterday, and he was cleared immediately. I'm not sure if they use the same system (we don't in Colorado) but it looks like the backlog is clearing somewhat.

That's good to hear... My last purchase in Nov I was in and out in 15 minutes but from what I had heard recently it seemed like more people were getting delayed and NICS would be busy and the retailer was forced to wait a certain amount of time before calling again, etc.
Man I wish I owned some firearms stocks

Transaction went smoothly. In and out in 15-20 minutes. Heading home with the new piece. Sales rep asked me how long it took I told him I ordered last Sat. He said they aren't getting them in the store and the waiting list is 1.5 pages
