I went back to the army navy store and they didn't have any of the large qt. bottles of CLP with the green goop in it but they did have a small 4oz bottle for $12.99 it bright orange in color more like a jelly and it's full name is No SL-4 Seal 1 CLP Plus I have been using hoppy's and regular good quality gun oil for over 30 years on Colt 1911's and every other gun with out issues.. Now with the New M&P's I have a M&P.22 and a .45 in FS also a AR. Should I change now? Is it time to try something new? This orange jello even smells good.. Thinking I should be rubbing on my arthritis in my joints instead of my guns!! LOL!! But give me the lowdown on this stuff is it worth changing too.. I still think I would use hoppy's bore solvent and reg.gun oil on things that swivel and after a full wipe down maybe use this new clp on things that slide..I would assume I can use this on my AR also like Bolt the carrier or should it be used on the hole gun inside and out? Will it protect the exterior of the gun as well as regular gun oil? Having this stuff open in front of me heck i feel like someone sent me flowers!!I think the wife is going to look at me funny when she comes home! Thanks! George
If you want to switch, try Frog Lube. It's safe for polymer and smells nice too. I switched and never looked back.
I was worried about doing damage to the polymer with some of the older style cleaners. Frog Lube works on everthing and no worries about doing damage. It's also food grade rated safe.
No Battle is needed.. Just that the wife picked some of this stuff for be because I was taking about trying something different a while ago and she remembered.. What a wife I have! This Seal 1 CLP plus comes in a paste also. I got the jelly form of it, seems easier to work with, more to what I'm use too.. I took down a old beretta mod. 71 .22 and did the lockworks and slide on it and wow with was nice very smooth .. So I decided to do the M&P .22 too and yep did that same to that nice and smooth both in slide and trigger opperation lockworks is smoother... I don't know how I will use this stuff yet if I will trust it or use it with gun oil.. I have some guns for more then 35 years with no rust on them with good old gun oil. But cant see how this stuff would hurt if i use it on the things it seems to help the best and keep a eye on them.. This stuff supose to be safe for all plastics and polymers too.. For me it's a big inprovement in gun opperation.. Now I'll have to see if it helps the trigger on the M&P .45 any.. George
Ok just did the lock works of the M&P .45 this stuff is amazing! huge difference in feel of trigger and slide has that guilty feel to it too now.. Not doing a trigger job on this gun now.. So far I like the stuff.. Now if it Only protests against rust too.. I would say it's the slickest stuff I had ever used leaves parts much more slippery then oil.. George
