Shield Pachmayr Grip Gloves

While waiting for my Pachmayr grips to arrive, I found a set of Handall Jr at a local sporting good shop and decided to give them a try.

They went on easy enough, had to trim the lower front for magazine clearance though. But I found that they did not stay in place. So I just redid them with some Hogue grip tape and will see tomorrow if that fixes them in place. It takes a while for the glue to dry.

They have a slight palm swell to them. If the tape doesn't hold, I'll install the Pachmayr grips when they arrive.

The Hogue and Pachy's grip sleeves will move (usually twist and/or slide downward) with both hot weather and age. Truthfully I find that be a bad thing on top of how ugly they both are. I started using the rubber Talon grips on my Ruger LC9s and Glock 19 and think they are the perfect answer. No problems with them in the 6 months my carry guns have been wearing them. I'd definitley go with the Talon's.

Best Regards,
Jon

My grips should be in today. If I don't like them, I will try the Talons for sure.

I got the Pachmayr's on my XDs and M&P 380 and they're really comfortable but as mentioned already they move around. Both my Shield's have Hogue Handall Jr's and they don't move as much but aren't as comfortable to hold like the Pachmayr's.

I started with the Handall Jr on my Shield, upside down for better finger spacing, but it tore, so I decided to try the Pachmayr. I really liked the Pachmayr because of the sponginess and the way it filled my palm. Neither on are lookers, but I'm more worried about function than anything else. With all that said, I picked up a set of Talons when they offered a discount a while back, and just installed them. I lost the thickness in the palm, but the overall grip seems a whole lot better.

Thanks for the info. My grips did not come in today. I'll report back when they do.

Here's The Information

So where's the pictures of it on your Shield? Pics, or it didn't happen. :D
What size/model # ?
Did you get it straight from Pachmayr, or find it at a LGS?

I went to the site and those for the Shield is listed along with
several others they'd fit. The item number of Shield is 05179
and shows a price of $13.95.
I don't know if Pachmayr offers an LE discount or not. They look
interestng and there's a video showing placing them on a pistol.

I would love a grip to help fill out the Shield's width, but I've seen so many reports of both brands slipping around on the grip. One thing that seems to stop this from happening is installing the talon grips under the sleeve, but I'm not looking to spend that much on talons, only to have them under a grip sleeve.

Got notified today that my grips won't ship until next week due to the shop being closed for the holidays.

You could buy a small strip of skateboard tape and place some on the grip sides under the pachmyer to prevent slippage.

A couple drops of super glue under the grip on you BG380 will solve the slippage problem, AND stop the lip from coming off the grip front and preventing your mag from coming out.

I actually put the Talons on my Shield first and they were ok but started to peel off a bit. I then put the Pachmayr Grip Glove over the Talons and it doesn't move at all

I've been using the Pachmyr for a few months. I had it taped from underneath, which held fine until yesterday when I was shooting in warmer weather. Maybe the tape got softer or worn out, but either way I found it shifting on me.

I'm going to give the Talon rubber grip tape a try now.

I have them on my BG and did have on my XDS .45 which really needed them as I didn't really want the XDS logo imprinted on my had after trips to the shooting range. Since I have large hands whatever extra width they added was a benefit but I don't think they add much more than Talon grips would. Right now I like the Shield grips just fine so I'll leave everything as is for now. Regards, Elliot45

I now use Pachmayr or Hogue handall jr. on all my pistols. I tried the Talon grips first and initially liked it but they didnt last long and started sliding around & peeled off.

I first use a cotton ball & rubbing alcohol to clean the pistol grip, remove any oils or residue and do the same on the inside of the grip to remove the oil residue on the rubber & then slip it on... The grip I mean.. :D
