I just recently purchased my M&P Shield 40. Been wanting one for well over a year, and finally got one!

I want to put night sights on this gun, so purchased some:

AmeriGlo Tritium Front and Rear Sights MP Shield 3 Dot night Sight set GRN,GRN SW-145
AR-AP-AMGRE2-SW-145.

They are on their way in the mail and haven't gotten them yet.

My question is to all you EXPERTS out there is:

Was this the right set of night sights to purchase? In all of you guys opinion, will I be happy with what I purchased. I was thinking of getting the truglo fiber optic for the front sight but just went with the set I bought.

Any insight or help would be greatly appreciated.

thanks,
Ryan

I have the Ameriglo's and love them. I also the TruGlo TFO's on an XDm. Both will get the job done but I believe the Ameriglo's work better for me because of the u notch rear. As for the difference between fiber optic and the Ameriglo front sight, I can tell virtually no difference in bright sunlight. In total darkness I see both brands equally well even with my old eyes.

I want a set of sights that line up quickly and easily and in my opinion, you did very well and will never have to think about the fiber optic tube in the TFO's coming out, something I have not experienced but is is a relatively common problem.

I have the Ameriglo SW-345 on my Shield 40. I love them. As gynstrom said; the "u" notch rear is great. You'll be satisfied with them.

The SW-145's you got are the sights I put on my Shield...they fit correctly and I think they're excellent.

I replaced the shield front sight and installed an Apex Trigger....remarkable difference.

I also changed the M&P 45 sights to the large dot orange trijicon with the Heine rear.....much better. The Apex kit on the large gun is even better than the Shield. Both are worth the cost.....

So, should I be upset about the Trijicon sights that came with my M&P 40? Paid under $500 for it with less than 100 rounds through it. Came with the box, two 15-round mags, lock, paperwork, etc.

The SW-145 from AmeriGlo is the right set for the Shield. I also own the TruGlo for my FS 9.

In a completely dark environment, the tritium green glow is the same on both sets. However, IMO the AmeriGlo sights are much better in twilight/dusk condition as the white dots show up much better.

Ryan,

Regardless of manufacturer, you pre-selected and purchased a sight set in advance of your post question so why are you now asking after the fact if you purchased the right set of sights?
