Been looking since I posted....Jerry M with S&W uses the Vortex Razor...are you sure it doesn't fit or did he have a smith do his special?
your thinking on the base plates and it not being listed but still fitting sounds pretty good. When I got my Pro CORE 9, the salesman but a Burris on the number 5 plate but he did not screw it down, but the holes did matched up.Looking in my manual, there are zero instructions for how to install a Vortex Razor. There are 5 plates & 6 MRDS's listed that are compatible and the Vortex Razor is not one of them. Perhaps it will work with one of the plates, but apparently S&W doesn't make that known...

I just picked up my M&P9 on Saturday. This is my first gun in about 25 years. I am wanting to install the Venom Red Dot also. Please, let us know how it goes once you get yours installed. Not sure if this is an affirmative source, but if you look in the Q&A section on the Vortex website. There are several mentions of the S&W C.O.R.E. being compatible with the Vortex Venom red dot. I just got my C.O.R.E. a few days ago and I am ordering up a Vortex Venom. I'll let ya know how it goes.
