What are you wanting to check? Hard to give good info without knowing what you 'need to look up'.
If you're simply wanting to look up its 'Born On' date, just check the date printed on the Test Fire Case envelope. If the envelope is missing, there's also a 4 digit code on the Box's label (mine's in between the 2 bar codes) that indicates either when it was made, or left the factory. The code indicates the year and DAY of the Year (2122 = 2012, 122nd day). The envelope and 'code' are usually within a few days of each other.
Ex:My Shield was shot on 4/30, the code 2122 = 2012, 122nd day (May 2nd 2012?) probably indicates it left the factory on May 2nd and it was in my possession by the 10th.
If you have neither the test fire envelope, nor box, or need Anything else...
Call S&W Customer Service and they can look yours up.
They were able to look up my 1974 S&W Model 19-3 for me with no trouble.
