I did mine on my .45. It was fairly easy.
Make sure to read about it or watch videos on Youtube thoroughly before attempting. It can be a bit tricky to get the sear assembly back in, and you have to take out the little spring from the left side (when looking at it from the rear) or you won't get it back in. It is only there to keep the safety in position anyways. You can get the plugs by calling into S&W. I don't think they charge for them. You will have to take the pin out to remove the sear assembly. So you'll need a good punch pin and probably a rubber mallet. Also when putting it back in you need to put in one plug (left I think) then the sear assembly, then the right plug. I have fired mine about 1,000 times since I did it and it functions flawlessly.
