Pearce grip bases

There was an earlier thread talking about the interest in a pinky extender. Several have called Pearce, myself included, but nothing to date. Feel free to try calling, they would get several Shield customers if you could convince them to produce it!

Maybe they're waiting for Shield users to cut their pinky off.

I have an M&P40C with 3 mags, 2 of which have the pinky extension. I shoot the one without equally well as the ones with it but it sure feels funny. That reminds me that I have to give S&W a call & ask for another extension. Eat your hearts out Shield owners, lol.

Pearce grip extension

I know at this time pearce grip extensions are unavailable for the shield model. However, does anyone know of one that is made for another pistol that could fit with some cutting, trimming, or modifying the bottom plate that could work?

I E mailed PG Friday ,hoping for good news.

I Did also, and gave up. I did a modification after a youtube video someone did along time ago, and improved it to my liking. I took a XDS PG I had already cut down, because I didn't like the curve at the bottom and super glued it to the bottom of the Shield 7 round mag, and screwed it on with 2- #6 stainless screws. It was a little tricky, as you had to pre drill two holes through the mag spring plate, so when you screw in the screws, they wouldn't push up the spring plate and jam the spring up. I then did a little shaping of the PG, and stipped it and the factory S & W mag bottom to blend in together, and to match my X-treme rubber grips. I made 2 of them, the second one a little better looking as the first was my test one.

I am new to this site, so I will take some pictures and attach to this thread. The only reason I used the 2-XDS's PG'S was both of my XDS's is stuck in Springfields recall. I really like my new Shield 9mm, and the best part it fits my XDS holsters very nicely.

Nice work Utah. How does it compare sizewise to the stock 8rnd mag?

It is about a 1/2" + shorter than the 8 round magazine, and a lot less bulky. It doesn't seem like much, but it conceals a little better, and You're able to use the 7 round mags with a pinky grip. You sacrifice only (1) round and a lot cheaper to buy and easy to find. I cut off approx. 3/4" of the Pearce Grip as I didn't like the look and feel of the hooked end. I had made these for my XDS, the difference was they slid right on the magazines.

I wish Pearce would make them for the Shield, but I would still cut them down.

Here's some pics below, comparing S&W 8 round mag with the 7 round mag modified for comparison to height and width.
