I've been looking around and have not been able to find information on whether or not the stock barrel on the shield is made to be able to shoot non-jacketed bullets. I know you can buy special barrels for Glocks that let you use non-jacketed bullets. Can somebody who knows what their talking about shed some light on this? :)

I know I could just try it out but I would rather not waste a bunch of time getting the lead out of my barrel.

What does the manual say? Is there anything in it telling you not to shoot cast bullets? The answer is no so, yes, you can shoot cast bullets.

Further, Glock has changed the rifling in their barrels. You can shoot cast bullets in them too.

Just like any gun, be sure to clean it at least every 500 rounds or so and lead build up won't be an issue.

I would suggest breaking in the barrel first, before shooting lead bullets. The barrel interior is a tad micro rough fresh from the factory. 200-300 jacketed rounds go a long way to smooth it up. I'd also strongly recommend lots of cleaning of the barrel with solvent on a patch/followed by a wipe dry with a jag for the first couple hundred rounds. As often as every 5 rounds for the first 50 rounds isn't too often. Spread it out to every 10 for balance. At that point it is probably ready to shoot hard cast lead very well. At least that was my experience for two 9mm Shields.
