I have a LaserMax on my Shield 40 and a Crimson Trace Laser on my Ruger LC9. The specs on both lasers are almost identical, but the CT laser can be seen better in daylight. I prefer the LaserMax for three reasons. (1) I like the on/off button, so when dry firing or shooting, where the laser is not needed or wanted, the laser can be shut off. (2) On a small gun, like my Shield or my LC9, I can only get 2 fingers on the grip. The CT has the button on the top front of the grip, and it sticks out 1/4 inch. To me that 1/4 inch makes for an uncomfortable grip, with the top finger sticking out further than the bottom finger. (3) I found on the CT laser, the laser is supposed to come on when your hand grips the gun, but unless my hand was in just the perfect position, sometimes it would not come on. The only way I could get it to come on every time was I had to use a death grip on the laser button.
Number (4) would be price, as the CT is double the price of the LaserMax. So my vote would be get a LaserMax.
