This may be all redundant now that NDZ has their mag base plates available but I started this project before their announcement. I wanted to fill the hole in the base of the frame and add a pinky extension to the mag for my small hands. The parts are made out some scraps of 1/2" thick rigid plastic that I already had on hand. They are "machined" using Dremel rotary cutters and a drill press used as a makeshift milling machine. Lots of measuring and the whole process is a little tedious but it was a rainy afternoon and I had time on my hands. Final shaping was done with a Dremel drum sander. It took me about an hour for the base and 20 min for the plug. I finished them with Krylon satin black intentionally orange peeled to match the texture of the S&W frame. The plug is secured in the frame using a dab of black RTV. The first pic is the plug before installing.

totally awesome....We need more people like you to give vendors what the gun owners want not what they think we need. Good job.:D

Does the frame plug sit low enough to clear the stock S&W eight round magazine plate?
Either way, you did a terrific job.

Yep, the frame plug clears the 8 rd magazine. The pic is a little deceptive; the frame plug only extends about .020" above the butt.

That's absolutely amazing fit and finish. I can't believe you made those from scratch out of scrap plastic. Props to you on your effort; it turned out fantastic!
