Looking to change the sights on my M & P 9mm full size, M & P Shield 9mm and Glock 30sf (that will be in the stable soon).

I currently have Meprolights on my Glock 23 (HD gun) and I like them OK but they don't knock my socks off in daylight. So I'm sort of thinking I'd like something that's more visible in the day but still functions as a night sight at night.

My Shield is obviously my daily carry gun - while my full size M & P will be used for a laid back combat league my club has this coming summer.

I'd appreciate any suggestions or experiences from anyone using non-stock sights as to what they like/don't like.

I kinda like the 2 dot system (or the dot/post style) but have never used it - and I also like the looks of the XS Big Dots - but again no experience with them.

At $75+ a pop I don't want to experiment too much without some opinions first. Pics of your current setup would also be GREATLY appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

Bill

I tried the XS-Express Dot (thought the Big Dot was a bit much for my small Shield) and took them off after shooting 3 days of tactical training. I didn't feel they allowed for any quicker target acquisition, and if the dot and line aren't exactly aligned, you can be way off.

I'm considering Tru-Glo's since they appear to be pretty bright in daylight.

Good Luck w/ your choice.

I have a number of pistols and all have night sites except my Taurus 77/24 ..45 and 9mm PT111 gen II (no one has them) I have had the big dot XS and did not like it mostly due to my 3 dot experience. The Tru-glows are OK they are a compromise the night dot is small and not as bright, at the range(indoor) you don't get the daylight so they are not that bright. The Meprolights and Trijicon are equally bight and if you get the HD type they have a good white dot, outdoor they can't touch a fiber-optic. For the money I go with the Meprolite best for price. I also go with all green they are brightest and the yellow rear bothered me. Now if the Tru-glo were equal in night brightness I would go with them they also need the HD white ring for in-between conditions.

I have the Ameriglo SW-345 on my Shield 40. I love them. Very quick sight acquisition. I'll take them over a 3 dot system any day. YMMV.

Trijicon HD. Buy them and you won't buy anything else again.

I have the TFOs on my M&P45. Much prefer the Trijicon HDs. I talked my firearms instructor into switching out the TFOs on his M&P to the HDs. Now he owns nothing buy HDs.

I've been using tritium sights since the 80s, but recently needed to go to higher viz sights for daylight use due to my eyes getting old.

I have XS Big Dots on my Shield, and now TFOs on my 40c replacing my 10-8s. I like the TFOs enough that I'm considering replacing the 10-8 rear on my 9FS with them.

I have Trijicons on my FS M&P40 & they're great. I bought the gun used from a LEO who bought his back when he was issued a new M&P. All guns that are issued by Milwaukee PD have Trijicons installed. When I ordered my M&P40C from a police supply store I ordered it with Trijicons but some of them came through with plain factory sights. I accepted one of them. I got some Glow-On luminous paint & applied it to my sights & I think that it's almost as good & a lot cheaper. My son, a MPD PO agrees that it's plenty good enough & he wouldn't hesitate doing the same to a gun he bought without night sights. A 15ml vial costs about $10 & will probably do 10 or more sets of sights. I already painted my buddy's M&P40 & he's very happy with the results.

My son carries a Glock 23 off duty with Meprolights installed & likes the Trijicons on his issue M&P better.

I would suggest the sights with the closest sight picture to your other firearms as possible. You don't want your carry gun to have a drastically different sight picture than what you shoot most often. You mentioned a monthly league with your Glock 23. I would suggest something with as close of a sight picture as that.

I'm rocking an Ameriglo Proglo front sight (almost identical to Trijicon HD) and a 10-8 Performance U-notch rear for the Shield.

The front sight is visible under any lighting condition. It features photoluminescent paint that can be charged using any light source as well as a Trijicon tritium center insert.

The 10-8 Shield rear sight is a fantastic match for the front sight. It is rounded/snag free, features a cocking ledge for one handed manipulations, serrated to reduce glare, and is plain black. Your focus goes right to the front sight where it belongs every time.

Extremely fast sight acquisition; it is similar to an XS Big Dot setup only better IMO. Just drop the big dot in the u-shaped cup.

Thanks to NacsMXer, I to am rocking the Ameriglo/10-8 combo. I found the typical 3 dot sight to be to distracting. The solid black 10-8 rear is perfect, and the Ameriglo front just seems to pop.

Are people using your LGS to install the sights or is it a DIY? My local shop doesn't have the right tools to do an M&P, so I guess I have to shop around.
