I'm looking to purchase the two tone M&P kit from cabelas that comes with:
Gun
3 clips
Plastic holster
Speed loader

Its currently on sale for $569.00. I'm contemplating waiting until spring to see if the price will go down.

Advice?!

Kind of like playing the stock market. The questions are.... will the prices go up, will the prices go down, will we be able to buy one anywhere in the spring:eek:. How lucky do you feel? (to borrow a line from Clint Eastwood)

Waiting is always a gamble. If you have the money, and you're willing to pay the current price, it might be best to buy it now. All it will take is another incident like Sandy Hook and the supply will dry up over night.
My 2¢.

All in all not a real bad deal from a gun shop. I can get an M&P FS or compact for $398 through a police supply store with 3 mags. Add about $40 for a holster & about $30 for a speed loader (if it's an Uplula) so that's about $468. That's about $100 less. Not everyone can get that kind of a deal, though. I think I did real well & then I have to consider I also get S&W's Nation's Finest $50 rebate. The total was $348 plus tax & background check.

Cabelas kit has the FDE frame. I don't believe anyone else has this "two tone". Because it is unique, you pay more than for the standard, more common all black editions.

I just went through the same decision process. I bought a black framed kit for $60 less at my LGS. Figured I would put the difference into other things, but I really like the FDE frame.

I wouldn't wait. It's only a few $20s that you won't even remember in a year or two. Get what you want when you want it.

You could wait or you you could get the kit from Cabelas and open one of their credit cards and get some cash off right away plus the points that go on it. When your all done you would probably get about $30 back. I did this and paid it off when the bill came in. I love my fde .40 range kit. You don't see them that often and I like fde.

I purchased that very kit in 9mm almost two years ago from Cabelas for pretty much the same cost...and love it. I doubt that it's going to drop much in price if it hasn't in two years, so I'd say buy it now and enjoy it!

I really appreciate all of the replies. Thank you. I'm only buying from Cabelas because I have $200 in gift cards.
I really don't mind if its the two tone or not, it just seems like a decent deal.

What would it cost for a 9mm conversion barrel and two clips for this gun?

I don't buy guns from big box gun stores. I support the little guy. If they don't have what I need I go to another gun shop. If we don't support the little guys, they won't be around to challenge the big box stores so you guys can keep paying full retail for guns.

Unfortunately, the little guys sometimes want to screw you. Case in point, I just bought a new Gen 3 Glock 19. LGS wanted $599 for it. Sportsmans Warehouse big box had the same gun for $499. I asked LGS if they would match the price and they wouldn't budge a penny. I ended up having Cabelas price match Sportsmans Warehouse and they let me use my "$50 off" coupon. I ended up paying $450 for it and saving $150 versus LGS.

Depends on what barrel you want. If you can find a factory 9mm barrel it should be around $70. I paid $100 because I can't find them anywhere. But saved that the first tine I went to the range with 9 mm. The mags "not clips" can be found for around $25 +-. You get also get a storm lake or kkm conversion barrel that will cost about $150-$175.

If I wanted to buy a gun from Cabela's, I'd go to this site Cabelas : CardCash.com, Save Up To 35% On Discounted Gift Cards - All Major Retailers - CardCash.com and get Cabela's gift cards at 9% off face value. They're very reliable and you'll have the cards within 10 days, probably closer to 7. I've bought Cabela's and Gander cards from them 6 or 7 times. Cabela's will do a 7 day hold without a deposit, or a longer layaway with 20% down. Either one will lock in your sale price, and you'll save over $50 by using the cards. Get enough cards to buy some ammo.

I bought the 9mm FDE range kit from Cabela's around last September. I wanted the FDE frame, the extra magazine (extras were impossible to find back then), and the speed loader.

I bought at the "Sale" price of $569+tax. As near as I can tell this is the regular Cabela's price and it's never sold at MSRP from them. A few weeks later I saw the real sale price of $529. I've seen it bounce between $569 and $529 a few times since.

I'm now a proud owner of an M&P .40! I purchased the two tone range kit for $519.99. I went to the range today and loved it, other than gritty trigger syndrome.
I saved around $100 and I want to buy a 9mm barrel and mag for it. Can you guys give me some links to the specific barrel/mags I'm going to need?

Just bought one from Cabelas in Nebraska for $519.00 My Wife and I both love this gun, shoots smoothly and accurate. Easier to shoot than our Sig or Ruger.
