36 no dash date?

i'm trying to date a nickel mod 36 no dash ser# 1484XX. Any info? thanx in advance.

I don't find any in the database between 146xxx and 150xxx with known ship dates, but ship dates for serial numbers in those two ranges might suggest yours shipped in early 1959.

I knew that the numbers seemed to not fit into any of the sets I have seen. One thing seems to be the lack of a J in the ser#. I still want to keep looking for the answer. The suspect chief was pictured a few days ago with pictures. 36 /36-1 nickel ?

One thing seems to be the lack of a J in the ser#.

That just means it was made before S&W started using the J prefix in 1969.

It would probably be around 1960 with that number.
