it mounts in your rear site dovetail and is used to mount a dot.

I'm sorry. I'm going to show my stupidity. What do you put on top of it? You lost me. What's the end result look like/do?

Looks pretty utilitarian to me. I could see being able to adapt a lot of things to mount to that. Nice find, especially with a little creativity.

The adapter fits in the sight dovetail and you install a red dot on top, like a RMR, Delta Point, Jpoint, etc. and not mill the slide to fit them.

The one that he linked to is for a Burris FastFire

I used one on a Glock years ago with a Tasco Jpoint

This allows you to mount a red dot sight on the rear dove tail. The CORE has this machined into the slide to mount a sight. This allows you to use the rear sight dove tail.

This was a good 10years ago. Worked fine, but later changed to a CMore with a frame mount.

This is the one I've been waiting to buy. I guess I should have mentioned it in my first post, but since I really didn't even know what I was posting about at the time, I just didn't think to come back and post about it.

This looks like the greatest thing since sliced bread to me for this job. Maybe it's just me.

The Burris M&P mount is better and no fitting needed.
I have both the mount you're asking about and the Burris mount. The Burris mount is a lot lower than
the Speed Shooters mount.

I have a Burris Fastfire mounted on a 1911, using the rear sight cut, with the Burris mount, which is similar to the DR mount you have pictured, but smaller, designed specifically for the Burris sight. It works very well, with no issues. The mount is solid, tight, and the Sight has held up well to about 1000 rounds of mostly hardball. Loctite makes a liquid fastener that can be applied to dovetails to reduce the risk of movement, if needed.
