After 1500 rounds through it, my M&P's front F/O sight drifted very far to the left. So much so that it is about to fall off.

I was thinking of using loctite to permanently hold it in place after I re-center it.

Should I be using blue or red loctite?

Thanks.

I watched a video and I dont recall if it was Hickok45, or something similar and they said red.
Ill see if I cant find that and post it up. Dont take my word as law or bible though. Just some topic starter

My friend at the range used a square punch and hammer to slowly tap the sight back to center.
He then use loctite 620 green and let it flow into the gaps.
After 24hrs in my case, and after 12o rounds, the front sight seems to hold it place. For now.

I'd call S&W and ask them to send me a new sight. Another fix for loose sights is to dimple the underside with a sharp punch. This usually works real well.

Update:

After 300 rounds, the front sight drifted to the left again.

this time, we took out the whole front sight and briefly sand down the old residue and re-apply loctite 620 on it again. I am going to let it cure for atleast 48hrs before I try shooting it again.

If all else fails, I am considering using heat resistant super glue to permanently glue it down.

I am damn sick and tired of having a gun where the sight drifts.
Sure it shoots well when the gun is zero-ed it.

But good is a gun if after every 300 rounds it needs to be fixed?

And S&W customer service just sent me a template answer by asking me to ship my gun back to them for inspection.
Even though I told them my local gun law doesn't allow me to ship firearms out of the country.
I am in Singapore btw.

Don't bother with email. Pick up the phone and CALL customer service. They will send you a new front sight without any questions other than where to send it.

Well, I am not located in the states so to call them, I gotta make an international call which cost a bomb here in Singapore.
That's why I am sticking to the email.

I was thinking if I should just buy the HIVIz Smith and Wesson M&P 9L Front sight to replace my stock sights.

Will the M&P 9L front sight fit M&P Pro?

Yes, the slides are identical (unless you have a CORE). Maybe if you put your location in your profile so it was displayed, the advice given might be a bit more appropriate. ;) (I did say might, that assumes people will actually read the information at the upper right of the post )

You have one of two possible problems. Either too much was taken off the sight at installation or the channel is too wide in the slide. I hope it's the former.

The sights should not move at all; ever. Get a new front sight and see if it fits better.

Update:
S&W managed to get me the contacts of a local distributor.

Thanks to our strict local gun law, the distributor can't give me the front sight unless he pays a permit fee to the government of approx USD400.

And our local gun shops don't carry the front sight for me to purchase.

So right now, I am stuck with a gun that can't be shot accurately, can't be repaired.

Have your local gun shop install a shim under the front sight, this will raise the dovetail up making it tighter in the slot.

Using a small, sharp punch with the sight turned upside down and properly supported, you can put a couple small dimples in the bottom of the sight. This will tighten it up.

I was thinking of using a small piece of gage feeler to slide it in between my front sight and slide. So it will be pushed up and holds the front sight in place.

I am thinking of staking the front sight.
How it is actually done? I can't find any info on this anywhere.

Yeah, $400 for the distributor to have the permit.

My M&P Pro costed me in total SGD$1631.
In US dollars, that's US$1288.
Cost Breakdown
Gun: US$1098
License to OWN firearms: US$173.8 (renewed every 2 years)
License to PURCHASE firearms: US$15.8

So you can see, it is extremely expensive to own a firearm in Singapore.
And not forgetting, in order to buy a firearm, you must be a member of a shooting club in Singapore.
The entrance fee is US$2370.
Annual fee is US$284.

Sucks to be a gun lover in Singapore.
