Default M&P 40 APEX DCAEK

About a week ago I posted for comments concerning the M&P 40 APEX DCAEK. Thank you all for your comments. Because of all the great reviews, I purchased one from Amazon and installed it. By following the You Tube installation videos, it was a breeze. The change between the modification and stock is wonderful. However, when I took my M&P 40 to the range, the trigger pull seemed lighter than the 1 lb difference Apex said I should experience with the new kit. When I got home and started looking into it, I noticed above the bar code on the plastic bag it said for "M&P Shield" instead of the full size 40 I ordered. I know I ordered the right one because I double checked my Amazon account and the invoice that came with the kit, which had the right one listed. My question is this: Are the kits for a full size and Shield the same? Am I in danger of malfunction, failure, or worse, a kaboom if I leave the Shield kit in?

I would contact Apex prior to shooting the gun again.

Yes, I have already emailed them and waiting for a reply. Since this was weekend and probably be at least Monday before I got a reply I figured I could get some feedback here. I am not shooting until I here from them.

I have an unopened Apex DCAEK in hand. It's labeled "APEX M&P Duty/Carry Action Enhancement Kit" with a part number of 100-073. It appears you might have the wrong kit.

Without a trigger pull gauge, it's difficult to know exactly what you're really getting. It's too subjective, what feels light to one person is normal for another. Often smoother is mistaken for a lighter trigger break due to the reduced effort that also comes with the reduction of friction, but the trigger can be actually breaking at the advertised weight.

I wouldn't be concerned about a kaboom, I think you're more at risk of an accidental/unexpected discharge if you have (improper) too light of a sear spring installed.

Please DO contact Apex about differences between the kits.

Apex sells the replacement sear included in the kits as a separate item saying it fits all M&P's (including shield) for the 9mm, .357 sig and .40 S&W models.

The trigger return spring looks to be different, if you compare the ones shown in the kit pictures, if so, that would make a difference.

Wow, that was fast! I received an email reply already and the customer rep apologized for sending the wrong one and will be sending out the correct kit with a postage paid envelope for the return of the wrong one, within the hour. Customer service like that is top notch. He did not say whether or not the Shield kit would cause problems, but I can wait for a few days without shooting.

I've been wondering what is different in the two. I look forward to seeing what they have to say.

Ha. I walked away without hitting post. I was hoping they would say what is different.

[QUOTE=Maximumbob54;137975335]I've been wondering what is different in the two. I look forward to seeing what they have to say.

I am also curious. When I take the Shield kit out I will try to compare the parts and report back here. It seemed strange that with the Shield kit in, everything worked well, but there must be a difference. I'm thinking that maybe the springs on the Shield are not as stiff?
