New Shooter: Ten Most Useful M&P Firearm Accessories
I have been shooting for a very short time (a year), so I thought I might put together a top ten list of the most useful accessories I've purchased with my M&P Full Size 9mm.
In reverse order, from least to most useful:
10
A P-7 "Bore stor" gun carrier. It is made of gray flannel material, and keeps moisture away from the pistol in the safe.
9
Additional S&W original magazines. I got two, so I have four now. Might get more.
8
An LF Arms steel mag release. Gives a good solid feel to the mags release, not like the plastic OEM item with metal insert.
7
I put these together as a group: A Safariland 5197 Kydex holster, Bladetech dual mag carrier, and an Uncle Mike's Adventure Belt. I got these to take a USPSA style orientation class recently. The are not hugely expensive, but very sturdy items by reputable suppliers.
6
And another group: A Hoppe's Bore Snake, patches, cleaning rod with jag and patch holder.
5
Trijicon HD sights. I bought the Yellow Front, Green/Black rear. They are very easy to pick up, and glow nicely at night, bedside.
4
My Froglube. Say what you will, this stuff works. I still have about 2.5 of the 4 oz bottle left after using it for almost 8 months.
3
A Maglula speedloader. Fantastic gadget, enables you to load mags lickety-split. Really, a must-have.
2
The Apex Duty/Carry Action Enhancement Kit and Polymer trigger. This addressed my chief complaint about the pistol, the gritty trigger. Love the 5.6 lb. pull, and now it's smooth like buttah.
...aaaand the number one most useful item is...
1
My Howard Leight Impact Pro electronic muffs, and my pair of over-the glasses eye protection. This was the first thing I bought to go to the range to shoot. Expensive, but worth it to save your eyesight and hearing.
That's my list, what are your favorite / most useful accesories?
