Default Range report: M&P full size with Apex FSS set up

Range Report: M&P Full size with competition sights and Apex FSS kit.

5 yards: as fast as I could acquire the sights after recoil (0.20-0.25 splits)

5 yards: as fast as I could fire and hold the gun on target (0.17 avg splits)

7 yards: double taps, most of the low left was me aiming at the -1 and a few attempts on double tap headshots for some reason

Had a light primer strike which is my first time ive had a problem with any of my M&P pistols in probably 3000 rounds total. Dont think my mods affected the striker. I probably just need to clean my striker channel.

Overall it was a good little getaway to the range. Messed around with the 556 a bit as well. Such a fun gun.

Biggest thing I took away from today was i need to mix double tap drills in with accuracy and speed. 90% of the time in IDPA you have to put 2 shots on each target. I slow myself down by taking 2 separate shots instead of double tapping.

So it was a fun and productive range trip.

Nice.

I would spend my time practicing controlled pairs. This way you'll guarantee better hits. Use the "double tap", or two shots without re-acquiring the sights, for really close stuff, i.e. 5 yards and closer.

Interesting distinction. I like it.

I love the fss kit. I have it on both the full size and compact.

Which of the two
trigger return springs did you go with?

When I installed mine, I used the lighter one, wound up around 5lbs, maybe a tad over. So I pulled it all back apart and put the stock trigger spring back in, now I'm at 3.75-4lbs. Of course it varies by gun, but I've found the apex advertised weights to be about a 1/2 low, at least at initial install. Well, the two I've done, anyway .
