Wouldnt bother me. I didn't like the white dots anyway, so I blacked out the rears with a Sharpie, painted the front flo-orange.

I'd call S&W and ask them. They may just need to be cleaned, but if not, I'd ask for replacement sights.

If you prefer to shoot with white dots at the rear, seems like options are:
1 Clean the dots (Alcohol swab/CLP) thoroughly or
2 Buy a set of rear standard sights ($16 or so, IIRC) and install them or
3 Contact S&W and ask if they can suggest anything (they may replace the sights)
I don't care for 'anything' on the rear sight, so, if it were ME, I would black them out with the aforementioned sharpie (or a bit of carbon pressed in with a Q tip).

Yes, that would bother me. It seems like it would distract me enough to affect my shooting, too. Personally, I like night sights, so that would probably prompt me to install some tritiums.

Ahhh, try a Q-tip with a little alcohol on it. If that doesn't work, a 59 cent bottle of model car paint and a toothpick will fix it..
Plus you will have enough paint leftover to do about a 1000 more.

If the front sight is like the FS M&P there is a good chance it's going to fall out so get the white paint. What I do is clean out all the old paint with a small drill bit BY HAND to give the new paint somewhere to go. clean up with alcohol. Then dip a needle in the paint and let some run off then drop it in the hole. 2 or 3 coats and its done. I did my front sight bright red.

Consider TruGlow TFOs. Put them on my Shield (EDC), highly recommended, but, of course, not for everybody.

Sounds like you got your answer...
You don't say if this is a new gun or used. If it's used I'd ask for some $$ off the price of the gun (might work if it's new too) and/or if you're buying it from an LGS, negotiate the price for installing a new/replacement sight...assuming you don't want to do it yourself.
If you decide to call S&W for a replacement. They might send you a new rear or they might have you send the gun/slide in. If it requires sending it in, I wouldn't go through the hassle and down time, but that's just me.

Clean it and put some white nail polish in it. She will look brand new.
