Default 9mm Core Porting my 5" barrel??

Hi, I'm new to IPSC and I shoot open class with my MP 9mm CORE with a 5" barrel. I also reload and shoot only Minor 125pf. I have a Delta Point optic, but was wondering if I have the ported barrel done just like the new SW MP. How much better will I going to see the barrel not rise up to keep me on target. I know good skills are always important, but I'm looking at Porting the barrel. One for looks two for function who has done this to their gun? and what are the advantages?
Who can do the porting also?
Also do any of you have factory specs on the hole size from the factory. I have a machine shop that might do it, but they need specs? Hole sizes, length ect.

Save yourself a world of hurt and have someone who has done this before do your machining. Mag-na-port International--Porting Pricelist & Miscellaneous Services

You will also find that shooting at 125 PF the porting doesn't work as well as a higher PF (more gas volume = more efficient port operation).

Check out Jerry Miculek`s C.O.R.E. YOUtube vid on that
gun in particular. Magnaport does his work. I think you will find it enlightening.
If you let anyone do it, you should take all the guesswork out of it and let the pros do it.

I just got a 4.25" 9mm PC Ported M&P. I think if this is what you want you should sell your M&P and buy the PC M&P. The barrel and slide are both ported. By the time you went to the expense of doing this, you could have bought the new PC M&P. That's not to mention the time you are waiting for the work to be done. Just something to consider.

Magna Port does both the slide and the barrel, the cost is $145, shipping and insurance is $20 each way. The shop turn around time is 7-10 days, with shipping figured in it's less than 3 weeks total time. It's an option to consider for those of us who already have Core pistols. I agree, I wouldn't buy a non ported Core and then have it ported, that wouldn't make any sense. (I'm also working on a Open class Core with a 4 port compensator and Major Power Factor, I just like experimenting )
