Issue with M&P9 after Apex FSS kit install
First off, this is my first post. Been lurking a while, just never had anything to say until now. Anywho...
I recently had a professional gunsmith install the Apex FSS kit on my M&P9. Since installing, I have had issues with the trigger not resetting. It happens at least once a magazine. I will go to pull the trigger, and it is as if the trigger hasn't been reset. At first I thought it was an operator error, and I wasn't letting the trigger out enough and letting it reset. But on multiple occasions I have had the issue where I remove my finger completely off the trigger and it still doesn't reset. At times, I can pull the trigger again and it will shoot, and other times it requires me to rack the slide manualy to get it shooting again.
Any ideas?

When you rack the slide and pull the trigger, try lifting up on the veryrear of the slide. That's possibly an issues of the trigger bar bow needing a slight (increase) adjustment on the gap. A 5 minute fixbut since you paid a smith, take it back.
Good luck!

That is a whole 'nother issue. I have brought it back since having them do the work, but neither the smith nor the shop's owner could get the problem to replicate, so they deemed it was ok. They said they shot two mags through it and never had an issue. I was then charged for the ammo they shot through it. Needless to say, I was pissed and haven't been back since.

This is not an uncommon experience with an apex trigger install.
Watch this from Apex and there's a good change you'll fix the issue yourself or tell your gunsmith to go find it on YouTube. From what you describe, I bet the loop only needs to be tweaked slightly to open it a wee bit: trigger loop adjustment.

So after watching that video I have a couple of questions:
1. What can I do before making the trigger loop adjustments to ensure that that is what is actually causing my problem? Squiddo and the guy in the video mentioned something about lifting up on the slide. What exactly am I looking for here?
2. Without firing, how can I tell that I have adjusted that enough?

I have been battling the exact same issue. I was told to put the stock sear spring back in. I haven't had a chance to do that and try it. My trigger goes dead at least once every other magazine.

I've noticed that Apex no longer offers the FSS kit by itself, only with a new trigger assembly included. Wonder if that is/was part of the problems experienced here?

I believe my issue is because I installed the Competition Spring kit a few years ago. When I did the FSS kit I kept the springs in. Someone suggested putting the FSS kit sear spring to prevent the dead trigger issue.

Its not rocket science to remove the slide and tweak the trigger loop or try any other suggestions. I've installed 10-12 kits, only had the dead trigger once and quickly removed the slide, opened up the loop a tad ... best shooting gun I have...

It is the loop. Open it up a tiny bit and try it again. You can get a little flat tip screwdriver into the loop and just tweak it the smallest bit. If you overdo it, the trigger pull will increase some, but sear engagement will also come on a little earlier. The trick is just do a little at a time.
This very thing happened to me during a 3gun match, I had to fix it in the field using the screwdriver trick. it still works almost two years later.

It may be that your gun smith opened it up too much. I had trouble with mine and opened it up more three times before starting over by compressing it back down. You may need to compress it some.
