Default s&w shield trigger reset

Hi I just bought a new shield 9mm. When i pull the trigger I cant get a good reset that I can hear or feel. I was just wondering if this is normal or if anyone else has had this problem.

My shield has a reset I can both feel and hear. Post #12 in the above linked thread does a pretty good job of explaining why S&W went to the new reset and from what I understand, the new M&P pistols use the shield system, as mentioned in that post. If yours does not have that kind of reset (you can you tube video's of it) you may want to call S&W.

I really dont care about the reset the only thing I am worried about is if the trigger is going to fail me without warning some day seeing as though I am going to be using my shield as my new primary ccw pistol.

Welcome to the forum

No gun will ever warn you if it's going to fail but the chances of a spring breaking are very slim. The spring should be good for at least 50,000 rounds. Learn how to properly clear a jam or failure to fire/feed which applies to all handguns not just the Shield.

My shield I bought new a couple of months ago has a felt and moderately audible reset.Which honestly dont matter that much to me either.I wonder if has to do with date of manufacture as I remember people putting down s&w on this reset issue so maybe they stepped it up at some point?I would just call them fellas at SW and ask them and see what they say. They seemed helpful and knowledgeable when I call.If they say good.to go then I would run at least a hundred rounds of your carry ammo through it and if 0 failures of any kind conceal carry it but I'm no expert.
