Default Range report

Progress today at the range...I finally realized what everyone on the UTube "how to shoot" videos means by dynamic tension. When I started using my support hand to squeeze and to "pull" against the "push" of my right hand my groups immediately tightened up. This let my trigger finger relax and also settled down the front sight dramatically. Even better, I began to just know when I had placed a shot on target. Good shots just felt like good shots!! I've attached 4 targets, the first two are about where I have been shooting and the second two are from when I started using my support hand and SLOWED DOWN! It just sort of happened today. I'm still shooting a little low but I'm not worried about this. I use two different Shield 9s with the same results so I'm going to hold the sights on the center of the target until I figure out what I need to change to start putting them where they should be. All these targets are at 7 yards with NATO 124 FMJs. I'm not going to change anything but my accuracy until I get where I want to be! Thanks for all the help you guys, this is really fun!

Are you putting the top of the front sight on where you are aiming or the dot on the front sight? The dot is correct. You tighten the groups up a lot.

I use the dot on the front sight as a place to focus but I definitely use the top of the sights to aim. This will make a difference Magload - thanks. This is why I don't blame the guns!!!

Looks like you're really improving-keep it up!! As mentioned above, if you put the front dot on the center of your target, that should bring your group where it needs to be. Different ammo/bullet weights will sometimes make a difference in POA/POI, so you'll find out as you go along. Both of my new Shields are very accurate out to 7 yards, even with me pulling the trigger! LOL :-)

Have fun and be safe-enjoy your Shield!

Those last two targets look pretty good. If you mix some dummy rounds into your mags you will catch yourself when you make a mistake and get a better idea of where you need to improve.

Its sort like golf where you have a great drive just often enough to make you think you are over the hill and about to become great. Then you splash 3 in a row and remember that you are not on the tour, or even the best shooter at the half-empty range!!! I'm definitely hooked.

Hey Magload,
Great advice! Used the front sight dot today instead of the top of the sight and brought the hits right up where I wanted them. Fired 200 rounds and things just keep getting a little better each time. Now I think its time to work on my head, I find I lose focus and spray hits around every once and a while.
Thanks again!

Great glad it helped these M&Ps and setup that way. The dot on the front does help to get on target faster and since it catches your eye I can see why they do it I just like the old top of the blade myself so have to learn the dot myself. Don't worry my mind drifts often also. Don

Forgot to post the first target from this morning. Still all over the place but I'm dancing around the center now. Thanks for the help!
